situations.
MAIN BODY
PART A
Significance of sustainable innovation
Sustainable innovation includes creating intentional changes to products, services and
processes of the firm for developing long term environmental and social advantages while also
generating the revenue for the firm. This words were given by researcher Richard Adams, who
also examined the academic and the industry research. Sustainable innovation functions with
services, products and the services. Sustainable innovation acknowledges the unintended
environmental and the social influences. It creates an influence that the businesses can offer
goods and the services which are better for the society for longer period (Rai, 2018).
Developing novel products and services- With the help of the sustainable innovation, the firms
can develop and provide original goods or services which donate their part in attaining the
sustainability. One such instance of the sustainable innovation is of the Bio-bean which is
British based start-up and also certified by B Corp, created an environment approachable biofuel
which was finished from coffee waste to power London's double decker buses. This start-up
upcycles the used coffee grounds into the environment approachable goods like the coffee woods
and the coffee tablets- which are option to the carbon-heavy oils like the coal blocks and the
wood are imported. This company is also using a substantial which was earlier measured as left-

over that contributed economy while also creating $10 million (USD) in the revenue in 2020 on
an yearly basis (Fenton and Timperley, 2019).
Altering production & operational procedures- Sustainable innovation mainly used in creating
the original products and services but it is also used by the firms to innovate sustainably while
also providing the prevailing products and the facilities when they alter their processes. Process
alteration may happen in different areas such as production, project, HR and advertising. One
example of the changing production procedure is of the Fair phone which is a Dutch social firm
that offers consumers the fairly sourced smartphones different from the bio-bean which develops
the original products that are woods and pallets generated from coffee left-over, the fair phone
goods do not offer latest technical structures. Instead, fair phone drastically changes the
smartphone manufacture procedure converting it into better responsible and more sustainable.
utilise recycled and responsibly extract materials and offer their workers through fair wages and
better worker circumstances. As approximately 80% of gas releases from smartphone are
generated through its production, fair phone develops or structure their products in such a way
remain last for a longer period of time. They have a design which is modular that makes the
upgrades and the repairs easy impacting reduction in the electronic waste (D’Souza).
Sustainable innovations lead to the sustainable trades practice- The main aim of the Sustainable
innovation is come up with requirements of present groups without avoiding or compromising
with needs of the future groups. It needs to trades to actively use the issues such like Human
Rights and also climate change into the processes of innovation. Companies that get involved in
the sustainable innovation go more than just getting for immediate profits. They create long term
plans for investing in the technologies and the workforce for the future use.

the long run than those without the sustainability orientation, which was researched by Natalia
Ortiz-de-Mandojana and Tima Bansal (Aaltonen, 2021).
Bio-bean as an example of sustainable innovation
Bio- bean is a clean technology organisation whose main objective is to change waste
coffee estates for infrastructure that are heated focusing on advancing the transport systems into
advanced biofuels. Goal of the company is to work with the prevailing coffee supply chain of the
industry for the collection and utilise thousands of tomes of the coffee estates that were lost by
the coffee manufacturing unit, transport hubs, coffee plants and the offices and it also creates a

management chances by converting the waste into the furl. When this approach is increased and
used on an industrial scale then it will lead to increased growth in the future and its adoption
across the globe, but most importantly enhancing the optimistic environmental advantages to be
achieved. Approximately 500,000 tonnes of coffee waste were generated in the United Kingdom
year and waste can be careful economically feasible. This offers a large chance for the financial
teams which are seeking for the low cost or cost savings and decrease their carbon footprint
