1. Introduction
a. Purpose of Document
The purpose of this document is to develop a project plan for the development and testing
of a mobile app for Darrell Lea, a manufacturer and retailer of chocolates and other
confectionary items. The company has been operational since 1927 and massively popular
among the Australians till date. However, with changing business strategies and trends around
the world, the management of Darrell Lea also wants a change in the business strategy in order to
be sustainable in the market and also getting more reach towards the customers.
b. Project Background
Darrell Lea is very popular among the Australians and the business has always grown
from its inception in 1927. However, the market landscape has changed considerably due to
massive development and upgradation of technology in which, not only new competitors have
entered the market with new and innovative business strategies and have reduced the market
dominance of Darrell Lea. One of the recently adopted strategies by many popular retailers is
online delivery system in which the customers do not need to visit the store physically; they can
just download a smartphone app, view available products and place order and the retailers
deliver the products directly to the addresses of the customers. Darrell Lea has developed a
similar strategy and wants to develop a mobile app that can be used for online delivery business.

The main stakeholders of the project include both internal and external stakeholders as
shown in the following table.

2. Project Scope
a. Project Objective
The main objective of the project is to develop a mobile app through which, customer can
order products online for Darrell Lea. Other objectives include implementation of new business
strategy, upgradation of the existing IT setup of the company and become more competitive in
the market compared to the other rival organisations operating in the market.
b. Project Deliverables
The main deliverables of the project are as follows.
Upgraded IT system for Darrell Lea with centralised control server
A new mobile app through which customers can order products online
Training to the staff for managing and using online ordering system and order
processing
A project report detailing all the relevant developments in the project

Once the beta version of the app is ready, it will be made available for download for
testing by the customers. Based on their usage and experience, the customers will provide

be reported on regular basis. Based on the project progress report, the project manager will
develop weekly report or change report that he will submit to the management for analysis.
iii. Status Report
Project status report will be prepared by the project team in order to note down the
project status including reaching milestones and update the project manager about the same on
regular basis.

Finally, it can be concluded that the project is feasible for the organisation and it will take
an estimated 113 working days. Moreover, the project is expected to cost the organisation nearly
$200,000 but will provide opportunity to increase the business such that this investment can be
recovered and the growth of profit occurs once the project is implemented.
