INTRODUCTION
In order to run a business in an appropriate manner, the basic thing which must be
considered by all organisations is to bring equality and diversity at workplace. Diversity and
equality at workplace is defined as a legal obligation which is used by an organisation to protect
workers from discrimination from caste, gender, belief, nationality, race, age, religion, and so on.
It aims at treating all employees equally in all aspects. This report is based upon Burberry which
is an UK based business retail organisation that deals with ready to wear outwear, cosmetics,
fashion accessories, and so on for both men and women (Allaoui, Bourgault and Pellerin, 2019).
It focuses upon initiatives and strategies which are brings out the organisation for building a
diversified workspace and in determining goals & aims of this project. Further, a a project
management plan is developed and various techniques and tools such as WBS structure and
Gantt chart is utilised. It also includes a research on small scale by utilising quantitative and
qualitative methodologists of research and its representation. At the end, proper reflection and
recommendations are provided in this report.

Background
Burberry is an UK based retail organisation that provides its products at international
level. This enterprise deals with fashion accessories, fragrances, foot wears, clothes, cosmetics,
and so on for both men and women. It was came into force by Thomas Burberry in the year 1856
and it focuses upon developing the outdoor attire and it moved towards high fashion market
(Bos-de Vos, Volker and Wamelink, 2019). This organisation aims at bringing reducing gender
pay gap at workplace in order to satisfy large number of customers.
This project is conducted to identify that, “ What is the concept of gender pay gap and
which strategies can be used to reduce it at workplace?

Project management plan is determined as an approach and plan which is developed for
describing and defining each and every project phase (Butler, Vijayasarathy and Roberts, 2019).
It includes various different components which are planning, monitoring, initiating, closing and
controlling. In this context, development of project management plan is done in order to reduce
gender pay gap at workplace.
Cost- It is an amount that is required for completing the project in a proper manner
(Chapman, 2019). Here, the amount that is required for completing this research is £300 and it is
is divided as follows. This amount has been distributed as a promotional expenditure of
amount£100, the technical cost which is required for completing this project is £100 , and other
expenses which are required are estimated to £100.

Time- This is a specific phase or duration within which a project report is prepared. This
is a duration which is provided by an organisation to the project manager to complete a specific

although the project must be completed on time, but it should not lack in quality, The quality of
the project must be good and it should be completed on time. Time which is given to accomplish
this research is 12 weeks.
Quality- Data which is used while conducting this research is relevant and significant
which increases the research quality (Fewings and Henjewele, 2019). Researcher and project
manager should make sure that quality of research is good for the user. For this purpose, the
researcher must collect relevant data and information which is related to the objectives of the
research. The researcher has a responsibility , to achieve the overall objectives of a research and

achieve it through effective quality measures. Moreover, the research is based on primary data
which increases its eff ectiveness and reliability.
Risk- These are barriers and obstacles which arise while conducting a specific research
and it has negative impact upon the quality of research. Here, the risk which occurred was lack
of time given to conduct this research in an effective manner (Sankaran, Vaagaasar and Bekker,
2019). Another risk which can be seen in this regard is the lack of coordination between
researcher and team members. Project manager has to manage all the risk in the research and
provide solution for risky projects.
Communication- To conduct this research properly, effective flow of communication is
a must. To conduct research in an appropriate manner, oral and written mode of communication
are used (Gurău, Volovelsky and Dana, 2019). Without proper communication, a research can
not be conducted, so, communication plays a vital role in this regard. In this research, all the
team members are given equal opportunities to speak regarding the objectives and matters
related to research.
Scope- While conducting this research, there are various skills which can be developed of
project managers and team members. Skills such as analytical and research skills helps in
opening up various chances for future growth and recognition (Shaw, 2019). There is a high
scope of improvement in skills and knowledge which will help the researcher in future and helps
to grab many future opportunities.
Resource- In the process of conducting this project, many resources are used like
physical, technical, human, financial and other resources. Here estimated costs has been
maintained to these resources (Jansen, Cusumano and Popp, 2019). For instance, marketing
resource requires £100, technical resources requires £100, and other resources requires £100.
Project management techniques
There are various kinds of techniques and tools which can be used to conduct research
appropriately. The tools that are used while conducting this research are Gantt Chart and WBS
structure are explained as follows:
WBS Structure- It is defined as a planning tool of management project that helps to break a
project into many small parts. This tool also helps the business to organise team tasks into certain
actions of management. It also helps in providing significant approach for getting detailed
control and estimating cost and in providing proper guidance to schedule development and

control (Jansen, Cusumano and Popp, 2019). It is basically taken into action to simplify project
execution by breaking down various managerial chunks. It also helps to organise project
appropriately and accurately to assign certain responsibilities to research team and by using this
technique, researcher is able to estimate the cost, risk and time which is utilised for
implementing a project.
Gantt Chart- This structure helps in dividing tasks of individuals into certain parts and on the
basis different activities are provided to workers in an enterprise for making sure regarding
completion of this research effectively (Kerzner, 2019). It will also help in improving overall
efficiencies and procedure and its also shows time slots that are made to each task of this
research.

Method of conducting research
While conducting this research, it is significant for an enterprise to investigate properly
by using various methods which helps to make this research relevant and valid. Moreover, by
suing these methods, it will become possible for interpretation of relevant information that helps
to conduct research in a successful manner (Keskin, Ozorhon and Koseoglu, 2019). However, in
each research, systematic data is utilised regarding specific topic. There are two methods to
conduct research that are quantitative and qualitative which are elaborated as follows-
Qualitative Research Method: This method helps researcher in completing this research
on a particular study successfully. This is described as a method that uses models,
theoretical data, tools, etc. for this project competition (Sankaran, Vaagaasar and Bekker,
2019). By using this methodology, there is analysation of data done deeply which helps in
enhancing knowledge of readers and statements made by them. This method do not use any
numerical form of figures and dtaa for the purpose of completing this project.
Quantitative Research Method: This method of conducting research is demonstrates as a
procedures that uses different facts, figures,and statistical data for the purpose of completing
this project successfully (Lin, Jalleh and Huang, 2019). Quantitative method uses numerical
figures and data and do not pay attention on focusing upon usage of theoretical information
and data. The basic content of this research is that in this research, only numerical data is
utilised.
Primary Mode to Collect Data: This method is defined as a first and primary hand data
collection in which the information which is collected is from first time and are represented
in from of its users. For instance, the usage of questionnaires, interviews and surveys are
covered in this aspect.
Secondary Mode to Collect Data : This mode of collecting information is determined as an
method which uses secondary resources and collect data from secondary hand and not from
the first hand (Pearlson and Saunders, 2019). Here, the data utilised is already exists and its
is again utilised in research for supporting and countering many arguments.
Data Collection: It is defined as a method that is utilised by project manager for the
purpose of completing this project. Various methods are there that could be use by
researcher to gather data for complete the research. Secondary and primary are the two

major type of data collection tools that could be use by investigator. In this research,
questionnaire, a form of primary method of data collection is used to gather information
from respondents.
Questionnaire: It is a specific questions set that is prepared by the project manager to get
data and information which helps in completing the research in an appropriate manner
(Rapp, 2019). Here, a research is conducted by selecting 20 respondents who are
stakeholders of Burberry and they were asked certain questions about the diversity and

Interpretation- These days, there are may issues which is faced by organisations regarding
equality and diversity because of improper management among employees. It is important to
deal with it because this creates dissatisfaction among workers. Out of 20 individuals, 15
respondents have knowledge about equality and diversity. But remaining 5 does not have. Hence
it is interpreted that most of the respondents have knowledge, so it will be easy to manage and
maintain equality and diversity among workers in the association.
