1SOCIOLOGY
The importance of the bureaucratization has been very important within the society. The
idea of bureaucratization is also a crucial fator behind the transformation of the society. The term
McDonaldization has been used by George Ritzer to note how the society has gone through an
overall transformation from the rural-agrarian to the urban-industrial one (Ritzer 2018). Most
societies wanted to shift from the rural structure to the urbanized structure for the development
of social productivity. The idea of bureaucratization can be explained through the
McDonaldization theory explained by George Ritzer.
Some steps have been found in both these sections because better services could be
provided to the society. These steps are efficiency, calculability, predictability and control. All
these steps can be formulated through the presence of a formal organization within the social
boundaries (Ritzer 2018). The concept of rationalization is also included in this scenario.
Therefore, it seems that McDonaldization has been derived from the aspect of rationalization in
the society. This type of social control might have been imposed on the society from the outside
or external sources (Dustin 2016). Still, Ritzer has argued that no external forces have forcefully
imposed this system without the consent of formal organization.
Rather, George Ritzer has added to his argument that increasing social demands of people
have resulted in the implementation of the McDonaldization. The existence of the E-
Government has been the latest development of the formal organizations (Ritzer 2018). It is
aimed at making the formal organizations like Government to function in a proper manner.
Government is recognized as a formal organization and epitome of bureaucracy in almost all the
countries.

According to the critics, it should also be remembered that there are several negative
values of the McDonaldization within the government. The negative concepts will come under
the concepts of ‘irrationality of rationality’ (Dustin 2016). Therefore, the direct connections
between rationalization, bureaucratization and McDonaldization must be formulated for a better
society in the future.
