Definition of Project
In order to maintain a successful business, Burger King has come up with different strategies
to expand its business. As suggested by Kerzner and Kerzner (2017), Burger King has
evolved its business planning in an efficient manner over the years. With the help of
successful marketing strategies, Burger King holds a powerful position in the competitive
market despite the numerous challenges faced by it. The taste offered by their hamburgers is
much better than other fast food restaurants in the world. They have developed a trend to
launch new products with changing seasons in their menu. They have decided to merge with
the Canadian market to serve their customers in a better way by offering breakfast
sandwiches and coffee. They7 have included several famous celebrities like David Beckham,
Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, Steven Tyler, etc. to spread message through digital platforms
in the hope of bringing a brighter future for the Burger King chain. Several items are included
in its menu like smoothies, customized coffee and salads that are attracting mass foodies to
their restaurants. They are marketing their products with the tag “Exciting things are
happening at Burger King”. Burger King has started to face a downturn from the year 2000,
when grievances are shown by their franchises over the market share (Boje et al., 2016). The
company has merged with an investment company located in London and has announced to
list the company’s shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
Project aim
The aim of the project is to develop different marketing strategies for Burger King so that it
can effectively manage its business projects.
Company background

the second largest Hamburger fast food chain after McDonald’s. With more than 11,000
restaurants across 45 states and 74 countries, Burger King has acquired an important place in
the fast food market (Harrington et.al., 2017). Chicken sandwiches, Whopper sandwich, Fries

know the labour laws in the respective countries they want to expand (Sears et.al.,
2015).
Unpredictability of supply chain- The company must analyze the components that

the project. There are five key stages of project management, which are discussed in the
below section.
The key stages of project management
There are five stages of project management and if high-level perspective of the project is
provided by the life cycle, the phases act as the roadmap to fulfil it.
Stage 1: Initiation of the project
The aim of this stage is to portray the project as a brand for the long run. Being the initial
stage of the project, it normally starts with a business case. Likewise, initially Burger King
launched its business as the ‘Insta Burger King’ with a mission to serve their customers with
high quality products.
This phase decides whether the project will survive in the upcoming future. If the
stakeholders of the company provides a green light to the project, then project requirements
are sketched that contour the purpose of the project (Hornstein, 2015). This includes the
business case and the business needs.
Stage 2: Planning of the project
This phase explains the successful management of the projects and a roadmap is developed
that will be followed by the project team. This phase set goals for the expansion of the
business (Todorović et.al., 2015). Two methods are adopted by Burger King to expand its
business and set franchises across different countries. They are

CLEAR is a new method to spread the business in the competitive market and this has
proved beneficial for small scale business companies like Burger King (Badewi, 2016).
Collaborative- The aim of this method is to motive employees to work cooperatively
Limited- The project should be submitted within time
Emotional- Employees must be motivated to work together having an emotional
connection with the company
Appreciable- The large goals must be broken down into smaller tasks so that the
mission is completed in a short time
Refinable- If situation is found difficult; the project must be flexible enough to refine
the mission
Stage 3: Execution of the project
Status reports, updates of the development, performance updates and meetings are the
important components of the projects (Sánchez, 2015). Team development, project
management execution, resource management and decisions taken by the project manger are
important tasks completed during this stage.
Stage 4: Project monitoring
This stage measures the progression and performance of the project. This stage ensures that
the project management plans of Burger King are in track to achieve the goal.
Stage 5: Closing the project
When the mission is accomplished, the project is closed. The project manager works with his
team to outline the checklist to be ensured that each task is attained.
Advantages of project management
The chief advantage provided by project management is that it helps an organization to
mange any project in an efficient manner (Svejvig and Andersen, 2015). This in turn helps a
company to quickly resolve any problem associated with the business expansion strategy.
Though time and money is important for any project, some good measures can prove
beneficial for the organization:
Gaining a latest view on the on-going project and its implementation on the
organization’s business strategy
The chances of improving a quality result is increased

Communication
Proper communication is needed to reach the target. Burger King has efficient staffs that are
capable to deal with the customers and any situation. Therefore, proper communication is
required amidst the workforce for the successful completion of any project. Grant (2015)
stated that a well organized communication channel must be established with the associated
stakeholders, peers and corporate executives. Marauri Castillo et.al., (2015) suggested that
an effective communication is established among the employees via regular exchange of
telephonic conversations and emails.
Resources and risks
Resources- The resources are chosen according to the project implemented by Burger King.
The resources can be economic, human resources and materials. The financial resources that
are capable to uplift the project guarantee the optimum investment to support the secondary
activities with respect to the project. Moreover, Liu et al. 2017) opined that the workforce is
the main strength of Burger King and this human resource helps to gather information about
the upcoming projects of the company. The broadband connection, internet facilities,
computer-aided provisions all are important for the successful completion of the project.
