INTRODUCTION
It is very important for a person to increase their capability in business and academic
English. This improves potential of a person to enhancing their academic and professional
performance. English is the most common used languages that will support in conveying
messages to other (Zhonggen, and Guifang, 2016). By developing business and academic
English a person is able to attain set goals and improve communication with others. Business and
academic English consist of different elements which helps capability of a person to speak and
write better in English language. In this report various new learned skills are analysed. This
report will include advantages of Gibb’s cycle model for evaluating learning. In this different
advantages and disadvantages of learning online is determined.

To what extent have you developed new skill as a result of this module? Please give example.
This module is very helpful in increasing learners capability and performance to conduct
academic and business task in more effective manner. Academic and business English is a
crucial part of individual as it is required in day to day activities. By completing this module I
am able to increase different skills and capability that will support in my further growth and
development. Business and academic English included different topic that were very supportive
in increasing my capability to speak and write English in more effective manner. This was
helpful in improving vocabulary and sentence framing ability. As a result of this module my
communication skills are enhanced. This is one of the crucial skills that is required by student
and professional for conducting their task and job role in more creative manner. for example in
order to develop a impactful and attractive presentation, it is crucial for a person to have
information about English. Business English will increase my capability and potential to create
innovative presentation with proper English without any mistakes. This presentation will help in
impressing other as well as improve image in organisation (Śliwa and Johansson, 2015). For a
student academic English will support in writing assessment in better way in order to gain more
marks and successfully completion of academic course. Academic and business English not only
help in increasing communication skill but also support in enhancing confidence.

In your presentation, why have you used Gibb’s cycle / Kolb’s theory as model to evaluate your
learning?
Through the analysis of this presentation it has been determined that Gibb’s cycle is one
of the effective and useful model that will help in increasing the learning of an individual. This
model in use as a reflective learning theory and with the support of this model a person will be
able to analyse and determine different elements which will assist learner in increasing their
learning. Gibb’s reflective model is considered as the most efficient model as this enables a
person to correctly reflect on the different incidents that occur as well as evaluating complete
experience. I have consider Gibbs reflection model for this evaluating my learning as this model
includes five different steps which will assist in increasing learning potential as well as gaining
better understanding (Dafouz and Camacho-Miñano, 2016). This model includes description,
feelings, evaluation , conclusion and action. Through description step I will be able to determine
what was happen during that experience and when or where was this situation. In feeling steps,
different elements such as what did I feel before and after the occurrence of situation. Evaluation
phase will assist in positive and negative aspects that will identified during the experience where
as conclusion phase will assist in determining positive aspects of the experience. In this I will be
able to analyse what would I do differently in the same situation again. Last step of this model is
action, this will include action that is required to deal with the challenges and deal with the
changes in better manner.
What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of learning online?
Online learning is one of the effective method that can be used by person
to increase learning and knowledge about any topic. online learning course are developed to
provide education to different people. So that they can improve their potential and skills. There
are various E- learning tools which will provide opportunity to perform for learning new things
with the support of electronic media. It has been identified that online learning have various pros
and cons that will lead to have impact in learning of individual. Benefits and drawback of
learning online is mention below –
Advantages of online learning

Online learning is a very cost and time effective method as this does not
include high education fees. A person is able to learn through online sources whenever and
wherever they want to learn. Online learning platform are more creative and innovative in order
to increase the learning of a person (Hasselgård, 2016). Learner will be able to use online
learning sources as per their convenience and it is less boring as compare to classroom studies.
Online learning material is always available to learner and they can excess it is less expenses.
Disadvantages of online learning
There are some issues and problems that is associated with online learning which will
have negative impact on learner. Lack of internet connection is one of the major disadvantage of
online learning as learner will not be to learn anything with no or low internet. This reduces face
to face interaction and affect immediate feedback about learning. Online learning is not suitable
for hands on field experience as practical session such as science, medicine or surgery is not
possible through online sources.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that business and academic English is very
important for professional or students as this support in improving performance. Gibbs reflective
model is very effective for increasing learning through own experiences. Apart from this it has
been analysed that online learning have both benefits and drawbacks for learner.
