INTRODUCTION
Business functions are also called as the different departments of the organisation which are
used by the organisation so that business tasks can be completed effectively (Bauer, Schlund and
Vocke, 2017). this report will discuss business functions and academic skills.
MAIN BODY
importance of business skills along with academic skills
It is important to have different business functions so that so that work can be assigned to those
department from which it belongs to. Marketing department of the company carries all
marketing and promotional related activities, this is the department which helps in increasing
sales of the company. Marketing team deals with the customers face to face. So they better
understands customer needs. Whereas finance department prepares budget for the organisation.
They give budget to every department of the company so that actions or activities can be
performed in given budget.
This department also knows the financial position of the organisation. If talking about
production department, they make sure that organisation never goes out of stock. If company
will go out of stock than its customer can get shifted to their competitors. This department also
ensure that there are necessary raw materials so that finished goods can be prepared. Human
resource team which is the most important business function. HR employs workers for the
organisation they make sure that they hire right candidate for the right position. They carry
various tests to check the suitability of the candidate (Yulianto, Sudirman and Setiawan, 2021).
HR is the backbone of the company. They does not only hire employees but also responsible for
the training and development and career development of the workforce.
They listen to every problem of employees and try to solve it out. Example in Tesco all these
business functions are working combined and well so that company can achieve their objectives.
Marketing department is depended on finance team because they provide them budget for
carrying promotion related actions. Whereas all the departments are dependent of HR of the
company because they recruit candidate for them. If the department will not cooperate with other
department then that can affect company's growth. If company wanted to achieve their objectives
timely than it is important that department work together with collaboration and cooperation.
There are many academic skills which are required by students which are time management,
managing time is necessary because it is helpful in completing task at the given time. As the time

which is wasted will never come. Another skill is note taking, this skill will be helpful for
students to note important things which is taught in the classroom for future references. Note
taking is the habit which make the learning process quick and effective. Research skill, this skill
helps students in finding out information which is relevant and important. If student will develop
this skill than it will benefit them in the future when they will join the organisation because
research is required in every field (Heikkilä, Kaipia and Ojala, 2018). Listening skill, it is the
major skill, before speaking anything it is important to listen carefully so that no confusion
prevails afterwards. Listening practice is helpful in avoiding conflicts and confusion.
CONCLUSION
Through this report it can be concluded that there are various business function which are HT,
marketing etc which helps company in achieving goals. Carious academic skills are also
discussed in detail.
