INTRODUCTION
Business environment requires high level of practice and knowledge about the business
factors. Doing business is not an easy task, it requires knowledge, network, management and
communication. Business can't be done with the mind set of present situation, it will always be
done to foreseen the situation which will put an impact on business. There are mainly two type of
factors which highly affect the business conditions and provide high profitability i.e. internal
factors & external factors. Internal factors are those which affect the business operations within
the organisation, these are the part of the organisation, on the other hand external factors are
those which are from outside the business, part of the environment but, affect the business
operation (Askarov,2022). It is really necessary for the organisation to analyse the business
environment and there are some frameworks through which company analyse the internal and
external environment of the business. To understand the business regulations and its factors for
this report the company is taken which deals with printing press for the last 10 years in Chase
Green House, England. In this report, the SWOT & PESTEL analysis will be done of the
selected business company and analysation will be done to calculate the competitive position of
the company through Porter's Five Forces Model. Apart from this report analysis, the self
reflection will be made on academic learning and all personal development skills.

About the Company
Brunswick Press is private limited company(Ltd.) have been established in 1970. The
company was situated in chase green house, England. The company started trading in 30 May
1881, dealing with the printing of newspapers. It will better to understand about the company by
studying its SWOT and PESTEL analysis.
SWOT Analysis
The main motive to run the business is, profitability and it depends on its operations and
its practices. Business is not an easy task to do, it requires a lot of research and hard work like
understanding the business environment and according to the environment the business should

get run. There are some tools which helps the business company to analyse its performance and
prove the framework to examine the internal as well as external factors of the business
environment. The tool which analyse the company growth and help s in regulating the business is
SWOT analysis, it gives all the information regarding the strength, weakness, opportunities and
threats of the company (Bolten,2020). To understand the business operations of Brunswick Press
Limited company with the SWOT analysis is discuss below;
Strengths
 Human Capital : Brunswick Press
Limited, have skilful workers who are
experts in installation, commissioning
and also in marketing. They never
underestimate their work and provide
best services agist which no complaint
was made by any customer. The whole
Brighton uses their services and rely on
them for trustable and real news.
 Strong Brand Image : Brunswick
Press Limited has build its image very
strong in England. Its a small company
printing press company in England.
But, with the excellent service provider
it create its brand image.

give profitability to the company. But,
they are limited in number which get
count in a great weakness of the

company has talent and also the high

workers the company got failed to use

investment the return on investment is
not matchable.

 High Demand : Nowadays, where the
life is not being seen without
newspaper, in every house and in every
private or public offices it becomes the
essential product. Its an opportunity for

 Increasing tax rates- The company has
to deal with the cost rising by the
government on their product means the
tax rate got high. As a result the
company bare higher logistic costs and
higher cost on paper material which get

many latest advance technologies
which got invented, the company have
an opportunity to use that technology
and enhance their growth and
profitability.

disable the company to stand out in the

PESTEL Analysis
Its a tool for the organisation to examine the external factors which affect the business.
There are various external factors which affect the business, and to examine all the factors at
once the Modern Air Service have a tool of PESTEL analysing which means; Political,
Economical, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal factors. These are some factors
which has a great influence on business company Brunswick Press Limited.
 Political Factor- The UK government does not have much direct interference in business
but, there are some political factors like foreign trade, tax rates, import and export
policies etc. These are some factor of politics which affect the business operations
(Fallows,2021). The Brunswick Press Limited has greatly influenced at the time of
BREXIT in UK in which the company has to follow the EU regulations on purchasing
the paper material and and other resources which use in printing.
 Economical Factor- This factor has a great influence on company, whatever changes
take place in the economy will put an impact on business directly. Like if there is a
changes in interest rates in bank then, company finds difficulty in raising funds, income
of people would put an impact, if there is an inflation or recession it will affect the
business industries due to high or low flow of income in the market will fluctuate the
economy and business will not able to perform its operations effectively.
 Social Factor- Apart from the governmental policies, the society and mainly the
customers has put a great impact on business. Their preferences and taste would change
rapidly and it put the great impact on business activities.

 Technological Factor- It is the most important asset for the company, it is responsible
for the company growth and also fro its failure. The company has to adapt the latest
technology to give efficiency in their business operations. But, its a thing which get
develop or getting advance day by day with more cost (Fusco,2020). Due to high cost the
company has to quit its existing machinery and have to adopt the latest one to compete in
a market.
 Environmental Factor- The selected business get highly got affected with the changes
in environment. Mostly the newspaper will distributed manually and the second thing is
the product is a paper material, due to bad weather the business and demand get highly
affected.
 Legal factors- There are some provisions and act's in legal sector which put an impact on
business. There are some laws such as company act, Income tax act, consumer protection
act, equal wages act, health and safety act, employment act etc. These are some legal
issues which has a great influence on business company.
Porter's Five Forces Competitive Analysis
Its a tool for the business companies to measure the level of competition in the market.
This analysis was introduced by Michael E. Porter, this analysis assist the company to foreseen
the future challenges and enables company to enhance their profitability. To understand the
company competition better, the following competitive analysis of Brunswick Press Limited by
using the Porter's five forces framework are mention below;
 Competition with same business industries- The companies which are dealing with the
same product, gives high level of competition. There are so many printing press
companies in UK which have the same business operations and even better companies
are present in UK. This threat will make aware the Brunswick Press Limited to make
their newspaper designs or content different from others .
 New Entity Entries- There is a great pressure on the company when a new competitor
would entered in the market. The company has to build its image good which helps the
company to reduce the competitive pressure.
 Pressure from Suppliers- Brunswick Press Limited print their own newspapers they use
their own machinery but, there are raw material for which the company give ordered to

Issued faced by the management in operations
 Mismanagement of inventory and stock- It Is the real responsibility for the manager to
take care of the accurate account of inventory. If it is not done by the management then,
the deliveries got late, loss of loyal customers as well as loss in income.
 Refining the inventory- The company when order for the inventories, the material was
not accurately perfect there are some material which got damage and become defective.
To sort out the defective ones from the perfect ones takes time and effort both if it is done
manually.
 Unable to fulfil promised demands- To have a loyal customers are just a matter of luck,
its become the responsibility of the company to take care of the needs and demands of the
customers. It takes a lot of efforts like proper packaging, discounts etc. services got
disturbed by many factors like change in weather, unavailability of ordered items etc. The
company has to build trust that never breaks promises.

After completing the above report, the reflection part is being done on skills which I
learned or used in before making the above report. These skills were not only used in the above
report but, it will be use in every aspect of life to enhance my career. To prepare this report I
learned few skills such as communication skills, problem solving skills and the numeracy skill. I
would explain the skills weekly wise because that's how I got learned and applied skills in the
above report.
WEEK 1
It is really important for me to learn how to do reflective learning, it shows me the
importance of reflection to develop myself. In the first week I learned how to prepare skills
assessment and how to represent it by self assessment. In learning skill assessment I learned
various skills like communication skill, in which I got an idea or the skill to communicate or the
way to express my words accurately what I want to tell others. This skill is developed by me in
the first week by having a conversation with myself and apply the vocabulary which I got
learned from the English books, novels and articles. This skill not only assist me in the above
report but also it helps me to interact with other people with the confidence and without
hesitation. In the same week, another skill which I got learned is problem solving skill, there are
different problems in different areas so. According to that I learned this skill to apply it
according to the situation. Apart from the report, problem solving skill helps me in my personal,
professional and also in my academic areas. In all the fields problem arising is normal and it
should be happen, to getting out of the problem I learned to identify the problem first and
according to that difficulty or problem I examine various solutions for that problem and in the
last choose one solution to overcome with that problem. It requires some creativity and
imagination which helps me to think out of the box and solve the problem in time. There is an
another skill which I got learned in this week is Numeracy skill, this skill really find beneficial
for me as it gives me the brain to solve the mathematical illustration. It will eventually helps me
in my career along with the report.
These are the three skills which I got learned while preparing the above report, apart from
these skills, thee is another skill which I got learned to improve me learning skill through VARK
model. It is the model which suggest the learning styles by four ways such as; visual, auditory,
reading or writing and kinaesthetic. To apply this model is on the learner that, in which way he

would understand better like I prefer reading and writing which included making list, reading
notebooks and taking notes for help. Like this only by other learning models like visual learning ,
learner can use picture, movies and with help of diagrams he can remember the learnings.
Learner can use auditory learning in which he can use audio lecture, music etc. if not any of the
learning learner can pick kinaesthetic way of learning in which learner can grasp the topic with
movement, experiments and from hand on hand activities (Menzies,2020).
These are some skills which I got developed in my first week of learning. These skills after
learning I applied in the above report and also applied all the skills in my daily life routine.
These skills will help me in my profession like business like problem solving skill, helps to me
see the problem without any tension and be ready with the solution. The Numeric skill helps me
to give to give confidence to solve the calculative problem, and the communication skill give me
the confidence to make the flow of information accurately without any hesitation and confusion.
WEEK 2
I gave second week to improve my communication skills, I examine the importance of
communication in day to day life. I come out with the plan to improve my communication by
interacting with my fellow mates, manager and with my team leader. I participated in the team
project which give me a chance to interact with different people of my team. The interaction
which took place between me and my team mates, leader helps me to improve my
communication skill.
In the same week I go through with the Belbin theory. In this theory there are nine
different team roles which assist the learner to form a well establish team. This theory was
divided into three main categories group such as; thought oriented, action oriented and people
oriented. The VARK learning styles which I learned in my first week assist me to understand the
Belbin team theory and also cleared my mind to choose the oriented of this theory.
WEEK 3
In third week I give my time to learn SWOT and PESTEL analysis which I already used
in the above report in regard to Brunswick Press Limited. Through learning only I was able to do
the analysation for the company. It would really helpful for me as, it gave an idea to me about
the company strength, weakness, opportunities and threat. By learning the PESTEL analysation

of a company I go through all the factors which affect the organisation i.e. political,
environmental, social, technological, economical and legal factors. It look really difficult before I
started the learning but, as I started learning with the help of VARK learning style particularly
reading and writing learning style. It gives an idea to me about the company and with the help of
the VARK model I got learned the importance of SWOT and PESTEL analysation.
Apart from the above analysation, I also learn the five force model of porter's, which gave me an
idea about the competitive market. The VARK learning style, I applied to learn the porter's
model assist me the way to apply any one of porter's model to complete the case study business
analysis.
WEEK 4
In the last week, I took my time to revise and to realise my learning which I got learned
in last three weeks. In the fourth week I realise my strength and weakness with the help of
SWOT analysation. I realised and considered my strength to my numeric skill, communication
skill and problem solving skill (Sheffield, 2020). After knowing all me strengths I realised to
work on my weakness, to the improvement I prepared personal development plan which helps
me to overcome with my weakness.
