A business analyst can be described as a person who would have the capability to analyse
the internal and external business processes of an organization. The role of a business analyst is
to guide business processes based on improving the services, products and software systems
through the analysis of data (Ioannou and Serafeim 2015). The business analysts are also
responsible for engaging with different users and business leaders based on understanding the
ways in which changes would be made for adding value to products.
The roles prescribed for a Business Analyst (BA) in any project would be to identify and
solve a diverse range of problems that might pose problems within the business processes. They
would also work closely with other leaders and project manager to analyse the present scenario
of business and suggest recommendations towards improvement.
The necessary responsibilities of a BA are classified as under:
1. Understanding of business processes and changes.
2. Presenting ideas to business leaders and managing public relations (Buono and
Subbiah 2014).
3. Elaborating of project details and preparing strategy with project manager.
4. Defining functional and non-functional requirements based on meeting with project
expectations and change needs.
Competencies based on Roles and Responsibilities for Business Analyst
Relationship – A good relationship is one of the best competency for a BA. They should
manage the best form of relationship with project leaders and manager working over the project.

Leadership – They should also demonstrate their leadership qualities over the people
who would be working under them (Chakabuda, Seymour and Van Der Merwe 2014). They
should also discuss and prepare new plans for setting business strategies and implementing them.
Communication – A good form of communication should be maintained with each
stakeholder involved within the project team. A proper kind of communication would be helpful
to distribute ideas within the project team and business.
Business and Analytical Skills – Based on having good kind of analytical and business
skills, it would help a business analyst to solve multiple problems. Logical reasoning over
various situations based on making judgements would also be a critical kind of competency for a
business analyst.
The Business Analysis Core Concept Model (BACCM) is defined as a conceptual
framework for defining analysis over business. This framework is defined as a process based on
enabling changes and recommending of possible solutions towards a project.
The stakeholders are considered as persons who are directly or indirectly impacted with
the growth of the organisation (Woerkom and Zeijl-Rozema 2017). In the case of business
projects, these stakeholders would help in planning approaches, developing solutions and
manage them based on successful implementation of business plans and objectives.
Based on understanding the stakeholder analysis over an organisation, I would choose
Telstra for analysing the scenario. Telstra is planning to implement 5G technologies. Thus the
two stakeholders within the business are: Business leaders and Software Engineering Team
(SET).

Priorities – The business leaders have priorities based on developing and communicating
the development plan to the managers.
The SET would have priorities for discussing the technologies that would help in the
implementation of the final project.
Concerns – The concerns for the Business Leaders would be based on implementation of
the set plans and procedures in a successful manner.
The SET would be concerned over the successful implementation of the technology.
Influential factor over the Business – The business leaders would imply plans that
would be implemented by the SET team (Mayfield 2014). It would be the responsibility of the
SET team to imply the best technologies for leading the company in the global market.
Need of Communication – As a BA, I would need to communicate with both the
stakeholder groups. I need to understand their concerns and suggest beneficial changes towards
the planned strategies.
Based on certain situations of a problem, you can firstly prepare a report based on
defining the causes of the problem, understand the root cause of the problem, define the scope of
problem and specify suggestions on the ways of mitigating them.
A vision for a project could be defined as a practical guide for setting objectives, goals,
creating different feasible plans, making decisions, perform coordination and evaluation of the
prepared work (Lynn and Kalay 2015). It would be important for a project as it would help to
bind the various project groups to aim together and develop a certain project.
