Luton Town Residences: Business Case Report for Business Management

INTRODUCTION
Business is an activity of tactics which helps in generating revenues by rending their
products and services. The organisation can achieve their targets by managing their affairs. It is
the branch of education which helps in pertaining to plan, executing, supervision and analysis the
functions of enterprises so that they can attain their objectives in an effective manner. This
assignment is based on the Luton Town Residences which is operated in Luton with an objective
to provide housing facilities to local community who are residing their which focuses on
providing help and support to vulnerable section of society (Hmida, 2018). They managed and
owned into two divisions like General Purpose Housing and Supported Housing. This report will
be discussed about the problem which arose due to COVID 19 in Untied Kingdom. Further, the
different options are discussed to solve the problem with the use of Weighed Score- Card.
Moreover what are the pros and cons of that options. Lastly, the report has discussed about the
timescale in which the benefits can be realised.
PART A
Reasons behind this project, problems and background
The aim behind this project is to accomplish the solutions of problems of Luton Town
Residences. It is the case study of Housing Association which is located in Luton. There main
aim is to provide living facilities to vulnerable peoples. They have a centre office situated in
Luton Town Centre. They also managed and owned two blocks of housing which are separated
office of General Purpose Housing and Supported Housing. They provide facilities for the
general purpose of living and and supporting team (Finchum-Mason, Husted and Suárez, 2020).
General Purpose Housing department which has an duty to manage the general issues
within their areas. For which they have finance team, maintenance of facilities team and team for
customer service. If anyone having any kind of issue they they first contact to customer help
team and further they can move as they needed.
Supporting Housing Department also provides the different teams to provide and manage
the different facilities. They also have Personal Coaches so that they can full fill the needs of
every individuals.

The whole organisational communication is done through E-mails. They accepts the
complaints from their customers on this mode. They maintain the proper data in Excel sheets
which are secured in an effective manner.
The Luton Town Residence is not suitable for lengthy period of working in the pandemic
situation of Corona Virus 19. This virus has bought a huge description in day to day activities of
the organisation. There was the threat of being affected by this virus on health of their
employees. To safe them from COVID 19 the managing director has ordered the staff to execute
their work from their own places. But the company is facing problems in identifying their
effective communication and collaboration tools.
Business Option which are considered.
There are several business options which can be adopted by the company for the purpose
of housing, finance and supported department fro housing facilities. All teams are their to solve
certain issues of their companies in order to attain their objectives. It is the concept which can be
utilized in the increment in monetary value. This helps in creating a booming organisation.
Business option is the process of investigation of the market which is communicative and fiscal
statements. The main objective of the enterprise is top sustain their growth in the marketplace.
This model helps the company to analysis the value of their products and services. The company
can further discuss the different options such as:
 Do nothing: It is the concept in which come will not any changes in order to resolve the
issues (Ariyanti and Lestari, 2018). It the organisation will do nothing then that leads to
the damages to themselves only.
 Do the minimum: It is another concept in which the firm can do minimum efforts to
resolve their issues. The Luton Town Residences has faced many issues in this pandemic
situation and to solve those it is not possible for the company to resolve it from remote
areas. For it the company has decided to conduct an All- Company Town hall meeting in
which they have discussed about the problems which are issued by the firm and also
develop the strategies which may be help the company to understand it.
 Do something else: It is the strategies in which the company can do the something
different from the above mentioned strategies so they have to adopt something different
to solve their issues (Brigham, Kavanagh and Burton, 2017). In all Town hall meetings
the company has discussed about the measures which will be helpful in attaining their

targets but they failed in doing so so the company decide to adopt the new techniques so
that they can easily attain their goals. With context to Luton Town Residences, the
company has adopted new techniques of communications. The personal coaches has
requested that they must convey their things with the help of Office 365.
Thus the company has decided to adopt doing something else strategies which will be
helpful as an effective option. Now company is providing the platform which helps in solving
their issues.
Weighted Score Card Model:
The Luton Town House has used Weighted Score Model. It is a program which is used to
manage the techniques of analysing the weight age of the decision of firm (Rungi, 2018). They
use to analysis the value of prioritizing the activities of projects, there range of development of
goods. The criteria has explained below:

As per the above mentioned weighting score card, the company has adopted the third stage
where they have to do something else which helps them in avoiding the issues aroused in the
operations of business.
Expected Business benefits:
There are some benefits which the organisation can enjoy when they opt the third stage
that is do something else. There are certain benefits in using this strategies such as finance team
is required a new platform for this they want to communicate and decide the priorities. In case,
the maintenance team requested for the office Amp for their official communication (Kafruni
Júbiz and Castro Del Toro, 2018). In the meeting the company has decided to adopt the mobile
app for the usage as it is not feasible for the workers to always access to their laptop or
computers.
When the company has adopted these techniques in the measurable terms then it is
coming 50% of the staff is satisfied in adopting these techniques which helps the company to

solve their problems (Duval-Couetil, Huang-Saad and Wheadon, 2020). This helps in protecting
the data and securing it from its misuse. With reference to qualitative terms the firm will enhance
their quality of working and also develops the new platforms.
Expected Dis-benefit of the strategies
Every strategies has their own pros and cons. This do something else strategy is
providing the new platform for communication among the employees. There are some staff
members which are not comfortable with these techniques (Liu, Shen and Zhang, 2019). This
new investment needed the high amount of investment to accomplish it as it is an expensive for
the company.
Time Scale
To accomplish the revolution in the project the company has to develop the software
which will be helpful for the employees to complete their work in an effective manner. The cost
of this will depend upon the software which the company is going to develop. This project will
take around 6 months (Kangwa, 2017). This is beneficial for the company to adopt the updated
software by which it will be convenient for them co operate with each other and helps in
achieving their goals easily.
Costs
The finance of this project will be based on the series of business standards and their
projects. It holds the various purposes of their project management which includes estimate, job
control, data of field, designing and other activities which will be helpful in attaining their
objective. The cost of this project will be around $90,000. the cost may increase if the company
adopt the latest version of software (Scranton, 2019).

PART B
Gibbs model of reflection
This model is used to analysis the learning from experience. It is in the cyclic nature of
reflection which leaded by the six stages which are Description, feelings, conclusion, analysis,
evaluation and plan of action. In the below mentioned report I have used and developed the
certain skills in making this project. The skills which are developed during the competency of
this project those are as follows: Description: The first skill which I have developed during this project is to describe the
overall situation of the case study. This stage has helped me in developing the
communication skills. This resulted in learning properly. During the process of
competition of project I required to communicate with different peoples for the purpose
of discuss and presentation and sometimes they help me in writing part of this report.
The more good communication skills of an individuals helps them in writing an better
form of report. These skills are always useful in my daily life routine. Feelings: The second stage of this learning is about the feelings of the individuals. It
helps in analysing their situations in describing the report. This stage includes both the
point like what I feel during the event and what other feels in it. My learning experience
during this report is that I developed an skills which is used to work with the other
people. It is very beneficial form me to learn something with other people as this leads to
develop my skills which are present in the other people. I have developed my team
learning skills as well as of the communication skills. It is very important for me to
develop the team skills and I learned about leading the team also. My overall learning
experience in this is to develop the skills of team work which will be helpful in my entire
life. Evaluation: The third phrase of this model is defines as what is the position of the event
is it a positive or negative. In context of this assignment I founded that I developed my
numeracy skills which helps in creating a positive attitude towards my competition of
my report as I used specific data and statistics to examine everything. It helps me in
analysing the right numerical data at proper place. To complete this report I used every

data in an proper manner. During the accomplishment of this report I have done certain
activities which will helped me in developing my numeracy skills. This will be useful in
completing other events also. Analysis: It is a phrase which helps helps me in determining what exactly I have learn in
this event. This helps in learning the problem solving skills. During the event I have
experienced many problems in order to collect the data for overcoming with this problem
I used my developed skills such as problem solving skills, communications skills, team
work skills, numeracy skills and other skills also. During this project I have experienced
that I have learned my ICT skills where I learned Microsoft office programs. This helps
me in developing the skills to use technologies and other search engines. Conclusion: This is the phase which concludes the whole experience where we have
developed the various skills which will be aided me in my future events also. This
project has helped me in enhancing my communication skills, team work skills, problem
solving skills, numeracy skills, use to technologies and other skills. This project has
helped me in my over all development an makes my experience to be positive. Iteraction
with other people helps me in solving my problems.
 Action of plan: it is the last phrase of reflection which helps me in finding out that how I
can tackle the problems which were aroused during the process of competition of
project. The problems which were faced by me during this projects helps me in making
myself more strong and enhance my confidence to overcome with the problems. These
helps help me in solving my future problems also.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be summarised as, the Luton Town Residences can easily
provide their services to their clients because they have separate departments. But due to this
pandemic situations of COVID 19, they failed in providing services to them as they faced many
difficulties and barriers in communicating among the employees due to work from home.
Company has adopted online platform for their official communication but that is not feasible
with all the staff members. It acted as an obstruction for company as well as on their workforce.
This has an effect on the performance and the success of the company. For this, the company has
adopted software which helps the organisation to work together, which helps the company to
avoid the issues aroused by the virus and helps in the growth of the enterprise. Lastly, The report
has talked about the reflection, which determines the developed skills with the support of the
Gilled model.
