According to my opinion, your work highlights on business case and its importance in
taking business decisions. Your work has provided a brief on the ideal characters of a business
case and justification for choosing the business case. You have highlighted four most important
steps of an ideal business case which could have been explained in more detail by giving certain
instances. The utilization of information is good but should have been explained in brief. Bridges
(2017) has opined that the importance of a business case helps a business to make appropriate
decisions while undertaking a project.
According to Maul (2011), business cases helps in presenting a good project proposal,
which requires capital, effective allocation of resources with appropriate research and
development plan, marketing strategies, and a budget but a risk management plan should also be
included to mitigate the contingencies. According to Kerzner & Kerzner, H. R (2017), the proper
understanding of the potential risks involved with project proposal will help to find ways to
minimize the impact and be prepared for any future risks. Ideally, the potential risks can be
identified by conducting an external and internal analysis. Kendrick (2015) suggest that this not
only helps in identifying potential risks but also helps to take better decisions.
You have utilized an example of a business case which highlights the strategy to be
applied for the betterment of the business. A problem could have been identified before starting
the project to understand if the project is worth doing. A project approach could have been added
in which the entire work will be done to deliver the project. For instance, a project approach can
be different for a contracted work and an in-house work. The case could have mentioned outline
plan first and then discuss about the business case. All the business case outlines the rationale for
undertaking a project, it could have been more concise.
