Introduction
Sustainability is an issue, which caters to the wellbeing of the public. Exploitation of
the resources contradict the aspect of sustainability. In the case study, the exploitation relates
to the extraction of labour from the children. This issue is a social malice, contradicting the
aspect of education, which upgrades the preconceived skills, expertise and knowledge. This
utilization contradicts the issue of strategic management. This assignment, through the
example of child labour in Lahore, delves deep into the aspect of social sustainability in terms
of child labour.
Argument
According to Ahmad and Thaheem, (2017), social sustainability is considered as an
important component of sustainable housing. In terms of creating a society, sustainable tools
and frameworks play an important role. However, there has inadequate research about
sustainability assessment, resulting in the formation of fissures in decision making for
catering to the wellbeing of the people. For this, assessment framework have been used for
scaling the approaches of the government towards the execution of the business activities.
Typical example of this are the sustainability indicators, parameters and sub-indicators, on
which persons like Stein can be placed.
Mention can be made of the parameter of education, where social sustainability is the
most evident issue. This is because schools are the medium, through which the children get a
broadened view of the rightful actions (Kalsoom, Khanam & Quraishi, 2017). Typical
reference can be cited of sustainability consciousness (SC), which enhances the awareness of
the teachers in countries like Pakistan about academic establishment of the students instead of
pushing them to the darkness of child labour. Persons like Stein lacks the basic qualities
needed for providing proper guidance and support to the students.

Evaluation
Child labour contradicts the aspect of child care, nullifying the interrogative
parameter proposed by the case stud. Persons like Stein cannot be placed in the same pedestal
as the teachers. This is because of the gaming mentality, which blurs the fact that they are
children and need to be trained before using them for the business (Abdullahi et al., 2016).
The 14 year old girls, who are used for working in the factors aggravates the complexities in
terms of health and others. Here, an evident issue is the background to which the children hail
from. Mostly, it has been seen that the children come from a very poor family background,
where working is the only option for getting the daily bread.
Even if the parents dream a secured future for the childhood, they cannot admit the
children in schools. Instead they are compelled to push their children into factory works,
which fills their life into darkness. According to Nogler and Pertile, (2016), this action is
condemned by the International Labor Organization (ILO), as it is a heinous crime according
to the trends of globalization in the current scenario of the developing countries.
As per the opinions of Dannefer, 2018), persons like Stein need to consider the terms
and conditions of the labour union. This activity would enhance his awareness about the
rightfulness of extracting labour from the children. This enhancement is needed for upgrading
the standards of child care. Even if the children are hired for the manufacturing of the clothes,
proper training needs to be provided, so that they get the proper care and attention (Tsogas,
2015). Lack of consciousness in this direction nullifies the aspect of childcare in terms of the
health issues, which the children can get by working in the factories.
Conclusion
Social sustainability contradicts the issue of child labour. This is because using the
talents and skills of the children for manufacturing purpose does not lead to sustainability

instead it pushes the future of the children into darkness. Policies including scholarship are
needed for polishing the childrens’ future. Herein lays the role of the teachers and the
administrative personnel. Consistency needs to be maintained in developing these policies.
Consideration of the socio-cultural background, while developing the policies, would be
effective in terms of catering to the wellbeing of these children as well as their family
members.
Businesspersons like Stein needs the assistance of Ethical Code of Conduct in terms
of hiring labours. Insight into the terms and conditions of the Code of Conduct would make
him realize the value of education in case of the 14 years girls instead of working in the harsh
conditions of the factories. For this, frequent health check-ups needs to be conducted for
assessing the behaviour of the children in the process of executing the manufacturing
activities. Governmental initiatives prove effective in terms of securing the future of this
children. Typical example of this are scholarships, which would attract the children of the
families belonging to the below poverty level.
