INTRODUCTION
Regardless of any corporate, effective communication plays an important role in
achievement of personal life goals of various individuals. with regards to workforce,
communication is essential for achievement of respective goals and objectives of an
organisation. In current times respective marketing departments of various firms are
concentrating their recruitment strategies towards hiring candidates with good communication
skills (Buerkle and Gearhart, 2017). Establishment of good communication in an organisation is
helpful for attainment of various goals and objectives ensuring optimal usage of valuable
resources of the business firm. This report is being conducted on operational working of
Morrisons. The firm was named after its founder William Morrisons in year 1899. As per present
data, the organisation has around 494 stores, with its headquarter in Bradford, UK and is the
fourth largest supermarket chain in its home country i.e. UK. This report will be an inclusion of
various models of communication strategy used in the firm, principle of appropriate
communication with its barriers. With addition to that, there are various styles of communication
being followed up in an organisation for attainment of its respective objectives keeping in minds
company's social responsibilities towards its society.

Different types of oral communication
Oral communication is defined as exchange of various data and information through
spoken words. It is an inclusion of interaction with various people by conveying important
message regarding operational working of the firm (Morita Alexander and et. al., 2019). For
example, it may be any discussion regarding business plans and policies which are to be
formulated in an organisation. In context to chosen organisation i.e. Morrisons, managers of
concerned business firm undertake various types of oral communication in their operational firm,

as it proves to an effective way to communicate and discuss various plans in an organisation and
also allows to collect instant feedbacks from various staffs working in an organisation.
Face-to-face conversation: This type of oral communication is an inclusion of different
kind of questions asked by an individual to another. It allows respective speaker of to establish
effective communication and extracts reliable information about various plans and policies being
formulated in an organisation.
Telephonic conversation: In this element of oral communication, conversation tales place
between various individuals through phone calls. It is a technological extension of
communication system, it established oral communication between individuals or group of
individual who are far apart at a distance from each other.
Meetings: In this kind of oral communication, various discussions are taken place between
respective staffs regarding operational working of the business firm. It helps in collection of
innovative approaches to perform operational tasks in an organisation and enables concerned
authorities of an organisation to collect instant feedback from respective participants of the
meeting.
In context to selected business firm i.e. Morrisons, concerned higher authorities dedicate
their efforts in formulation of operational plans and strategies, by ensuring effective
communication in the working structure of the operational firm. It adopts various types of oral
communication to establish sound working environment and also enables firm to increase its
transparency of operations.

With light to the fact that, there are various types of feedback which are being used with
adoption of different kinds of oral communication. Attainment of positive feedbacks, enables
respective individual to communicate with other person with full confidence and is able to
communicate in an effective way, avoiding any barriers to communication. It also enhances
performances of various individuals in regards to their personal as well as professional skills and
abilities. There are various types of communication that takes place between various staffs
working in the business firm, it includes oral, written and many more. Out of all communication
type oral communication is considered as the best form of communication and is adopted by

Morrisons being a retail industry, who’s major operational activities are based on dealing and
delivering grocery item to company’s customers. The company is named after its founder
William Morrison, which was founded in 1899. As the retail industry deals in delivering of
consumable item with quality service, the firm has to go through huge threat of substitution of
their respective company’s products. In recent planning structure of the company, growth is
being focused and for successfully achieving this goal (Buduneli, 2020). Management
department have to implement various business policies keeping in minds growth objective of
the firm. Therfore, establishment of effective communication can be done through adopting to
oral communication, it will help workforce to avoid any sort of miscommunications and wastage
of efforts in an organisation.

By adopting oral method of communication out of all communication methods of
communication, enables higher authorities of the business firm to collect instant feedbacks from
various listeners in the workforce. Intake of feedback, is an important contribution towards

weaknesses of respective plans being formulated and also ensures positive perception of various
staffs, regarding plans working in the workforce.
