BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Task 1
Why is academic integrity important?
Academic integrity is of greatest importance in the context of a university. At the
university level, papers are provided credits based on the originality and honesty of students.
Through adoption of integrity, students give their best efforts in learning newer things with
honesty. The different values which are considered important in academic integrity are trust,
honesty, respect etc (White, 2016).
What penalties can apply to breaches of academic integrity?
The students who perform plagiarism, cheating, collusion, ghostwriting and any other type of
academic misconduct can be penalized by their university in different ways:
They can be expelled from the institution.
They can be ceased to attain any further lectures in the university
They can be failed on the basis of academic misconduct
However, many universities like Torrens University do not penalize the students at one go.
The students are given the chance to file their request in the student's cell. Any action is not
taken by the university until the claim is proved (Torrens University, 2020).
How does working with integrity improve your professional and personal success?
Integrity means being honest and respectful. It is one of the qualities which can make a
person compassionate and ethical. Once an individual gain this characteristic, he becomes
reliable and relevant to most of the people around him as people started trusting him. In the
professional field, integrity is one of the characteristics that one should have to become a leader.
So a person with integrity can easily get the promotion.

The students who perform integrity in schools and colleges are the students who have
learnt all the academic lessons carefully and has performed honesty and ethical behaviour. Since
these students never performed any academic misconduct, they have passed their papers having
complete knowledge in the paper. They will be in a good position of knowledge and compassion
than those students who have passed their papers unethically. The level of insecurity will be
more in unethical students than students with integrity.
Task 2
Achieving academic success
What is your learning style based on Peterson and Kolb's(2017) learning style?
Kolb has given nine learning styles which are experiencing, diverging, reflecting,
assimilating, thinking, converging, accommodating, acting, and balancing. My learning style is
experiencing and reflecting, which uses a logical and concise way of experimenting things first
and then reaches out to a conclusion without depending on easily available facts or problems.
This style is not influenced by any other person’s opinion and understanding rather than it uses

one’s own experiments and logic and tries to use different ideas and concepts to improve and
support the learning and understanding of a given problem. Students who follow this approach
have the capability of collecting a wide range of information from different sources. These data
can help to support the study and the idea developed by the students. (Azeem,2019).
Why is time management important when you are a student?
Management of time plays a crucial role in a student’s life. Approaches used by the
university to help students in managing their time is of great importance. Every university
provides students with guidelines concerning these allocations of time for different modules. The
different modules are given a separate allocation of the number of hours required for completing
the study of one module. If students give 12 weeks for completing the course, the number of
hours dedicated by them per day should be less as compared with the 6 weeks’ time duration
(Torrens University, 2020).
What is critical thinking and how will you apply it to further your knowledge and develop
your skill as a student.
Critical thinking is an approach to learning and studying. It means adopting proper
reasoning before including any facts and figures into the study. Critical thinking people are very
curious people who need proper clarification of any problem which they are solving. Students as
a Critical thinkers can do accurate evaluation of the different arguments and theories which can
enhance the knowledge. My style is to learn from different experiences and reflecting the same
logically in the study. The style of reflecting has the ability to reflect the ideas generated by
study. This style does not focuses on memorizing things rather interpreting meaningful
information to come to a conclusion.(Gentile et al., 2019).

Task 3
Models of business communication
The different models of business communication are Aristotle’s persuasion model,
Newcomb’s Inter-Personal Communication Model, Hoveland’s Persuasion Model, Modern
Model of Communication, Berlo’s S-M-C-R model, Circular Model of Communication,
Interactional Model of Communication, Collin and Guetzkowr’s Group Communication Model,
Circular Model of Communication etc. The model of business communication is important
because they help in developing effective communication in an organization. The models can
reduce the time consumption of communication if made formally without any error. The business
communication is complex as it follows the flow of information between different interrelated
departments. The two of them are explained below:
In this model, there are 3 elements of business communication which are, sender,
message and the receiver. This is a one sided communication, as there is no feedback approach
from receiver. Aristotle defined the importance of these elements but forgets to give importance
to the two way communication (McCabe & Pavela, 2000).
Newcomb’s inter-personal communication model is very simple in its approach and
involves participation of three parties in the communication model. The model says that there is
always a third party in the business communication model who can interpret and manipulate the
information. The other two parties have to depend on the third party for making the
communication effective.
However, the communication in today’s complex and large businesses must be effective
because a single miscommunication can mislead the organizational goal. Whenever the formal
