Business Report
Business reports are one of the most accurate and credible sources of information. This is
considered as an effective form of business communication (Chia, 2015). They can be of
many different types – formal, informal, interpretative, informative, and summarised and
verbation business reports. They have several different key features like -
Well Structured:
A business report is well structured to effectively organise the contents of the report and help
make its purpose more comprehendible to the readers.
Straightforward:
The business report is usually written in a very direct and straightforward manner. Thus, the
report should contain only factual data and figures, to avoid any scope of miscommunication
and to deliver the information accurately (Mort, 2017).
Simple Language/ Comprehendible:
A business report is read by different employees belonging to various designations. Thus, to
make it more comprehensible to a wide range of readers, simple language is used in business
reports.
Brevity:
The report should be brief and to the point in order to deliver the main message clearly to the
reader.

Active Voice:
Active voice in a business report makes it sound more authoritative when compared to
passive voice. Thus, to make the message delivered in the report more effective, an active
voice is used.
The report is a formal form of communication. If the report exhibits these different ideal
characteristics, then it will be perceived seriously and accurately by its readers. The following
is an ideal example of a business report, portraying an overview of the revenue and customer.
