BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
In face-to-face communication situations, do we tend to attach more significance to the
words people say, or to their non-verbal behaviors? Why?
In face to face communications, people generally tend to attach more significance towards the
verbal behaviors as the same seems to be more impactful than non-verbal behaviors. However,
the body language and gestures are also equally important as the non-verbal communications
help the people to communicate them with the people without much investment towards the
verbal language.
Explain two advantages and two disadvantages of working in teams.
Advantages:
People can work in a cohesive manner and hence more work may be performed in lesser
time and energy because of more manpower.
The efficiency of the work may increase while working in a team as the errors committed
by one person may be rectified by the other.
Disadvantages:
Sometimes, people may not be able to work within a team structure especially when
people lack team dynamics and do not know how to interact with team members and
communicate in a more efficient manner.
There may arise the behavioral issues with other team members which may significantly
affect the group performance as a whole.

Explain the process of information design.
The process of information design may be defined to be the process of presenting the
information in a most efficient manner. The concept of information design has arisen primarily
out of the studies in multidisciplinary fields and hence, may be used in several practical cases
like government, private communication, legal matters, and legislation and so on. The primary
aim of information design is to present the needed information to the user group in most cost and
time effective manner so that the primary purpose of communication may be achieved.
When providing feedback on a person’s work performance, what are the characteristics of
effective feedback?
Effective feedback should comprise of clarity, simplicity, constructive attitude and friendly
behavior, both-way communication channel etc.
Two models that have been developed to help our understanding of cultural differences
are: Hall’s context model and Hofstede’s dimensions of cultural diversity. Explain your
understanding of one of these models and how it may be used when working with people
from a range of cultures.
Hofstede's model is the structural and theoretical framework for understanding the cultural
differences in a group context with considerable emphasis on cross-cultural communication. As
per the given model, the national culture may vary widely based on few factors like power
distance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculinity vs. femininity, indulgence vs. restraint and
so on (Rosemann & Vom, 2015).

What do you understand by the win-win approach to negotiation. What are the advantages
of his approach?
The negotiation is a process of arriving at a consensus by the two or more parties countering
each other's propositions by way of resolving each other's points. The primary aim of the
negotiation process is to achieve the collective gain or advantages (Andersson, Nadali & Wren,
2016). In the process, the win-win situation refers to the situation where both the parties achieve
the benefits to the fullest, which otherwise would not have been possible had the negation
process would not have taken place.
Using examples to explain the meaning of each of the following elements of Eunson's
expanded model of communication: Channel, feedback, noise, encoding.
Channel – refers to the medium of communication
Feedback – denotes the responses arising out of the mutual interaction of the parties
involved in the communication process
Noise may be defined to be the hindrances that may arise in the process of
communication that hampers the effectiveness of the communication
Encoding this is the process of keeping confidentiality and privacy of the
communication data between the parties
Explain the steps that you should follow in planning and preparing an effective oral
presentation.
In planning and preparing the effective oral presentation, the presenter should consider the
content and presentation first. By presentation, it means that the medium of presentation should
