Why is academic integrity important?
Academic integrity is very important in recent times as there are many students who
have been completing their assignments via assignment helping companies and ghost writers.
Academic integrity is important for various reasons like garnering trust from the professors
and peers because trust is considered to be one of the vital characteristics to become a
successful and an efficient leader. This will also help in developing a positive reputation. It
also helps in adding value to the degree of the students. Scholars’ state majority of the
employers prefer hiring employees who have personal integrity that can contribute to the
business positively (Van Belle et al, 2019).
What penalties can apply to breaches of academic integrity?
Torrens University gives opportunities to the students to fix their mistakes however an
academic misconduct has various penalties which can affect the student. According to the
academic integrity policy, a student breaching academic integrity for the first time will be
recorded in the file of the student and then the student will be given an opportunity to
undertake another assessment where they will not be given any opportunity to plagiarise,
their assignment will be marked unsatisfactory or they will get a downgrade on their final
grade on the specific subject (Torrens., 2020). Conducting it the second time will have the
same consequences however conducting it the third time will result in more penalties like
they might be suspended from their classes, exclusion from the class and the extreme will be
expulsion from the course.
How does working with integrity improve your professional and personal
success?
Academic integrity is important as it makes students work on their own projects
which help them in learning the course and developing themselves and also help them in

gaining the knowledge. Atkinson, Nau & Symons, (2019) states breaching of academic
integrity means the assignment will be done by a ghost writer or plagiarized work will be
submitted which means that the students will not learn the course which will be a huge issue
when they join a job as they will not have the knowledge to apply and will be unable to work
in the organisation efficiently which will hinder their professional as well as personal
development.

What is your Learning style based on Peterson & Kolb’s (2017) Learning Style?
According to the learning style, I am a visual learner. According to scholars, I learn quickly
by looking at pictures and reading the content (Peterson & Kolb, 2017). I visualize what I
have read as well which helps in remembering lectures and other things just by the sight. I
want to see the things that I am learning as my brain stores that memory which helps me in
learning the things easily and stays in my head. I am thus attracted to spoken language and
colors as it helps me in visualizing what I am reading.
Why is time management important when you are a student?
Time management is very important for students as they have a pressure of getting
good grades and they have many things to study as well. effective time management will help
students to prioritize the tasks so that they can complete their assignments that are given to
them in class on time. Time management also helps the students to keep a track on their work
and their progress and also helps in reducing the stress level because of the pressure of
studies and getting good grades and take time out for themselves to maintain a proper
balance.
What is critical thinking and how will you apply it to further your knowledge
and develop your skills as a student?
According to scholars, critical thinking is basically the analysis of information and
facts that help in forming a judgment (Gambrill & Gibbs, 2017). Applying critical thinking
can help in the knowledge in various ways like understanding links between concepts and
ideas, understanding the relevance and importance of arguments identify the errors and
inconsistencies in reasoning and also help in building arguments.

In order to develop critical thinking skills students need to ask basic questions and
then try to solve problems, adjust their perspective, develop a foresight and also start thinking
in reverse to identify and understand things from various perspectives.

Write about 2 models of Business Communications and why they are important?
The two business communication models that will be discussed are transactional
model and Dwyer’s model.
The transactional model states that the both the senders and the receivers are the
communicators and both have an equal role to play in communication. This model generally
relates the communication with relational context, cultural upbringing and social reality.
Feedback that are non-verbal like body language and gestures are considered to be feedback
(Pré & Foster, 2015). This model is important as it helps in providing instant feedback and
there are no discrimination between the sender and the receiver. Aligning this with an
organizational context, it can be seen that the instant feedback will help employees and the
business to understand their business and make positive changes based on that and no
discrimination shows that every employee will be given equal opportunity to point out their
views which is essential for a healthy organisation.
The Dwyer’s model states that communication is a very interactive process and it
emphasizes on the different factors which is involved with the inputs of the message of the
sender (Doyle, 2015). For example, one of the factors could attitude and thus the receiver can
convey feedback to the sender and then the sender needs to notice whether the attitude is
positive or negative. This is very important in business communication as it is important for
the employees to understand the various non-verbal factors as well to decode the message in
order to understand whether one is satisfied with the work or want more hard work to achieve
the goals and mission of the organisation.

. One example is feelings, where the sender could be feeling emotions of anger and
frustration, and therefore when it reaches the sender, he/she could easily detect these signs.
Another example could be attitude, whereby the receiver conveys his/her feedback to the
sender, and the sender notices signs of positivity or negativity.
What are some of the possible ways that Business Communications may not be
successful?
There are some factors which can hinder communication in the business or in the
workplace are the following:
 Misunderstanding of any message
 Emotional differences
 Cultural diversity
 Positional differences
 Functional relationship between the receiver and the sender.
 Malfunctioning of gadgets and electronics which can affect the communication if the
business has a global presence and operates in various countries.
