Workplace diversity is one of the most important business objectives being taken into
consideration in the current scenario. It is evident that in order to survive in the long run, it is
important for all the business organizations to bring their employees from different cultural and
ethnic backgrounds. As a result of this, all the organizations have to work with remote
employees. As per the opinion of Ali, Metz, and Kulik (2015), team diversity is needed in order
to make the company work better as it helps in generating diverse business ideas. Samuel and
Odor (2018) have argued in the same context that the organizations also have to face many
challenges while they are trying to initiate a team diversification strategy. Team diversity
requires additional training and development facilities for employees.
There is a problem of language and communication as different employees come from
different socio-cultural backgrounds. This often leads to a fight among the people working
within an organization. This is because there is the misinterpretation and misses understanding of
the messages being conveyed. There are chances of discrimination or employee harassments as
well (Lal 2015). On the other hand, the company has to pay a huge amount of money for the
accommodation cost of a diverse workforce. This is needed as the diverse workforce is often
recruited from overseas locations. Thus the responsibility of providing the lodging and
transportation facility is upon the company. On the other hand, recruiting employees from
different foreign locations becomes tough as the company has to go through many of the difficult
taxation policies as well (Krishnan, Gowrishankar and Kanagaraj 2017.).
It must be noted that the other issue that can crop up is negative cultural stereotypes
create the challenge for the company because the employees resist in sharing the knowledge and
become isolated individuals. However, the company has to overcome these issues and make sure

that they are being able to raise proper awareness between all their employees so that they can
learn from each other.
I have gained a good knowledge from this assignment that will be helping me in the
future. I have gathered much valuable feedback from the essay like striking a balance between
my own culture and the culture of other diverse employees. As an employee, I will always try to
keep my communication open. A flexible and approachable nature is very useful for surviving in
the cross-cultural atmosphere. I will try to interact and understand the areas of similarities and
also the areas of differences among my co-workers. As a manager in my future career, I will
appoint special financial and budgeting experts who will help in allocating the budget in a proper
way. This will help in keeping an additional fund for providing the accommodation facilities and
conducting the cross-cultural training for the diversified workforce. A horizontal communication
will be established so that all the employees irrespective of their cultural background can take
part in the business decision-making the process. I will also endure that the reward recognition
programs, hiring and all other facilities are entitled to the workforce in an unbiased way.
