1WORKPLACE DIVERSITY
The process of globalization has brought about many changes in the working of the
nation states. One of the important changes brought about in the business sector is hat of
structuring of the organization (Conley Tyler 2016). The private organizations are employing
people who belong to diverse cultural background. As a result, there often exist a cultural
conflict in the work place. The thesis of this essay is to understand the impact of this cultural
diversification in the work place on the employees who are working there.
In a work place where people belonging to a variety of races are employed, a situation is
often observed whereby the teams that are formed are identified with the racial background of
the people who constitute it (Payne, McDonald and Hamm 2013). As a result, there is a need on
the part of the employers to promote tolerance and harmony among all the employees,
irrespective of their different cultural and racial background (Ozgen, Nijkamp and Poot 2017).
This is noticed in the case of Tata Consultancy Services. The management level has been able to
induce an atmosphere of friendship and tolerance among its employees due to which the
organization has been able to retain its best employees (Saini 2014). There is also the view that
the level of innovativeness of the organizations depend upon the cultural diversity of the
employees (O’Brien et al. 2015).
In conclusion it can be observed that there is a need to address the obstacle of work place
diversity. This is only possible when the managers of the firm take firm measures to maintain a
tolerant environment in the organization.
