Effective communication helps to foster a better working
relationship between manager and their staff, which can improve
efficiency and morale of employees.
This presentation highlights the concepts of communication,
models of communication such as Shannon Weaver Model and
Berlo's model of communication to describe communication.

MODELS AND METHODS OF
COMMUNICATIONS
 Communication is all about sharing ideas and information from
one people to another people or group of persons. In an every
type of communication involve at least sender and a receiver

situation and medium used to communicate.

Communication models
 Shannon Weaver Model: This model is one of the most
popular model of communication.
 In this model there are elements such as sender, encoder,
channel, decoder, receiver and noise.
 Sender is a person who wish to communicate a message, the
message can be idea, views, thought, opinion, information
etc.
 Encoder or transmitter as sender use tools or machine to
convert or change the message into singles which further
transmitted to receiver.

BERLO'S MODEL OF COMMUNICATION
 This model use four components to express the communication
process that is sender, message receiver and channel each of these
components effect many factors.
 The sender transmits the message by using factors such as
communication skills it is ability to write, speak, read and listen which
directly affect communication process.
 Attitude is another factors as the attitude of the receiver and sender
affects the message

Methods of communications:
 Verbal communication: It a communication is when a person
use spoken words to communicate with other person. This can be
a face to face with other person or a group if people or can be
done over the video call and telephone
 Non verbal communication: It plays an important role in
peoples life, since it improve an individual ability to engage,
establish and relate meaningful interaction in people life. Some
importance of non-verbal communication are:
 It helps in overcome culture barriers
 Reinforces credibility and trust

 Written communication: It might be an email, a
message, letter, report on social media. Written
communication have purpose to get a person message
across in clear and concise manner
 Electronic communication: it is a form of
communication that's transmitted, viewed, stored and
broadcast using electronic media that is computers,
video, emails and phone etc. It plays a major role in
modern society and businesses.

FORMAL COMMUNICATION
Formal communication in an organization helps to make an efficient flow of information among higher level and
lower level employees. Formal communication includes for types of direction that is downward communication,
horizontal communication, up ward communication and crosswise communication.
 Reliable and clear communication: in formal communication the information is passed in proper manner
and has clear intent. There is a litter room for the misinterpretations and misunderstanding in the formal
communication.
 Availability for the future references: receiving a verbal information is great, as it permit people in an
organization to follow-up clarifications and question.

INFORMAL COMMUNICATION
Informal communication is the unofficial and casual form of communication
so information is exchanged voluntarily among two or more peoples without
obey the formal, prescribed official processes, system, rules chain of command
and formalities. There are some advantages of informal communication are as
follows:
 It improves labour management relationship in company
 Obtain immediate feedbacks
 Increase efficiency
 Help in decision-making

CONCLUSION
