INTRODUCTION
Business Communication helps in sharing important information related to different facts,
figures and concepts within and outside the persons involved with an organization. It can be
internal as well as external, It is important for an organization that communication is proper and
free from all kinds of barrier to make information understandable in the same manner as sender
thinks it to be.
Mr. Fishy is a small organization with 20 employees in Borough market near London,
sales chips and fish and covers a small area, facing problems of weak communication within the
organization. Problems and solutions relating to communication practices used and followed by
staff of Mr. Fishy are discussed in brief.
LITERATURE REVIEW
As per the view of Popovski and et.al., 2018 communication is helps in sharing
information which is vital for making decisions in the organization. It is something without
which an organization cannot perform optimally. An organization with weak communication
system is not getting anywhere. Information sharing is important within and outside an
organization for proper functioning.
In accordance with Fredriksson and Pallas, 2016 identification, evaluation and review of
communication practices followed in the organization is vital for profitability, smooth operation
and functioning of the organization. Conflict resolution and staff satisfaction and directing
employees towards organizational goal is achieved through effective communication practices.
ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
Purpose and principle behind different forms of organizational communication.
Communication plays significant role in the business unit, it aids the person in
exchanging views with others in significant manner. There are generally two kinds of
communication forms that are used by different persons as per the suitability of place. Mr. Fishy
can use both these channels of communication so that information can be exchanged properly
with other employees (Koskela, 2018).
Formal communication
This can be defined as process of exchanging information by using pre defined method of
communication. It is used by an individual for official communication. Mr fishy can take support

coordination is very slow and it is generally done in written format hence there is evidence of
each exchanged views and ideas. It is time consuming process because communicator has to type
every thing in formal words. (Rubtcova and Pavenkov, 2019).
Informal Communication
This is the process in which verbal communication channel is used and there is no pre
defined method hence coordination or interchange of information can be done as per the
suitability of situation. The reliability of this channel or form is less because person do not really
consider to use proper words. Its speed of exchanging information is fast and it is less time
consuming process (Giles, 2016). This is the efficient method of communication because Mr
fishy can interact with others in friendly manner hence other person or employees can understand
the matter effectively (Guagnano, 2019)
Communication Purpose
The main purpose of communication by Mr fishy is to remove misunderstanding and
enhance clarity of task among all the employees. (Popovski and et.al., 2018). By this way
storing of information can be done effectively and it can be analyzed in systematic manner.
Flow of Information: Mr fishy has to ensure that exchange of information can be done properly
so that each staff members can get to know the objective of this task. This enhances clarity of
activity and help in minimizing confusion among workers. By this way every one in the
organization can perform their duties properly. (Koskela, 2018).
Developing Good Human Relations: Communication aids in developing healthy bonding
between human being in the workplace. Hence the purpose of communication by Mr fishy is to
develop understanding and friendly behavior between employees so that they can perform each
activity in near future effectively with coordination (Giles, 2016).
Preparing employees for change and learning management skills: The purpose of
communication is to make the employees aware with requirement of change at workplace so that
confusion of all staff members can be minimize and each person can be prepared to work better

Principle of communication and their applicability
Principle of Clarity in Ideas: In Mr Fishy it should be clear that what information needs to be
conveyed. Clearer information and effectiveness is related to each other the more clearer
information the more effective communication(Guagnano, 2019).
Principle of Appropriate Language: Communication should always be done in simple
language which is understandable by every staff member. Management Ideas of Mr Fishy
should be clear enough and there should not be any doubt in minds of the staff. Usage of
technical terms and ambiguous words should be minimum.
Principle of Attention: During communication Staff members should understand the meaning
of what has been conveyed which means only transferring of information is not referred as
complete communication but importance lies in receiver understanding in exact way as sender
wants. This is only possible when receiver pays attention(Fredriksson and Pallas, 2016).
Principle of Consistency: Communication system in Mr Fishy should maintain consistency in
objectives, procedures and processes. Which means communication should be in according to the
policies framed
Principle of Adequacy: Information provided to the staff should be sufficient enough. More
information than required or less than required both can have negative consequences in Mr
Fishy(Rubtcova and Pavenkov, 2019).
Principle of Proper Time: Time plays an important role in communication. Information should
reach staff whenever required. Information provided late are meaningless and loose
utility(Popovski and et.al., 2018). Therefore message should be conveyed before actual
requirement keeping in mind time needed for communication process.
Principle of Informality: Informal communication has its own importance. Management in Mr
Fishy should pay heed to Informal communication as well because some problems which are not
be solved with formal communication can be solved by informal communication(Koskela,
2018).
Principle of Feedback: It is important that staff should let management know about the
understanding of message. Which means that management should confirm that staff has
understood information or not.

Principle of Integration: Communication should be done keeping in mind integration of
complete organization and management of Mr Fishy should be able to introduce complete staff
organizational objectives.
Principle of Consultation: Suggestions and ideas of all the employees concerned can be
welcomed for effective communication.
Principle of Flexibility: Communication system should be made flexible enough to absorb
changes introduced in Mr Fishy.
Principle of Economy: Communication system should not consist unnecessary cost and should
not be that much expensive and should be economical.
Principle of Proper Medium: Proper medium of communication should be used to by
management and staff of Mr Fishy to have clarity in thoughts and information.
Communication practice evaluation
Effective communication can be defined as process of exchanging views that is free from
confusion and all the members are clear with the message. Mr fishy has to ensure that individual
communicate the information with other staff members effectively as there should be no
confusion in the mind of employees and all the members must get aware with the necessity of
information (Popovski and et.al., 2018).
Base for Action: there is need to evaluate the main objective of communicating this information
about new policies o company. This would help in making correct speech ad exchanging it in
proper manner (Guagnano, 2019). Mr. fishy has to ensure that communication is done in proper
manner to management and to staff as well.
Planning Becomes Easy: before communicating any information there is need to plan properly,
effective planning aids in framing right sentences so that objective of message can be cleared to
all the respective members in Mr fishy. If there is effective planning then employees will
understand the issue can implementation of policies can be done in effective manner (Giles,
2016)
Means of Coordination: Mr fishy is required to improve coordination among all staff members
as they have to ensure that no person is unclear with the objective of communication. This would
develop friendly atmosphere at workplace and next time people will understand the issues and
will support to resolve such kinds of problems in organization.

Provides Effective Leadership: Leaders of Mr fishy has to ensure that they lead people well so
that if they have any kind of confusion regarding communicated policies then they can discuss
with the leader in effective manner. This would help in getting right feedback from them and
resolve their confusion immediately. This is also beneficial in raising confidence of employees
ad directing them in systematic manner so that they can also accept new policies in the firm
effectively (Burgoon, Guerrero and Floyd, 2016).
Boosts Morale: Management of the company has to ensure that all the employees are motivated
hence while making communication leaders of Mr fishy has to use encouraging words so that
people accept new policies and support management. This would be better in resolving issue of
conflict. This is better in minimizing misunderstanding and enhancing coordination among all
the staff members of mr fishy.
CONCLUSION
Communication provides backbone support to every organization, same case is with Mr Fishy.
Many conflicts rose because of difference in age and culture in the organization. It was important
to address these problems through communication. This study discusses how Mr Fishy an
organization in Borough market near London, selling chips and fish having 20 employees face
problem of conflicts between employees and how management provide report on communication
system of the organization.
