INTRODUCTION
As different nations have different culture which to be followed by an organisation
located in respective countries(Bateman and Snell, 2013). The main purpose of this report is to
provide information regarding different culture, religion, social habits and other cultural aspects
of two countries which influences business operation. In this report Hofstede cultural dimension
theory and Kluckhohn & Strodtbeck's value orientation theory are also mentioned in order to
demonstrate the nation and its culture.
Culture of Britain
Though carrying different culture in different country make difference in people as well.
There are certain rules and standard developed by the society in order to resolve such cultural
problems. The cultural society of Britain focuses on providing fair treatment and equality among
people carrying different cultures which help people to adjust easily in working environment.
Bangladeshi culture
The Bangladeshi people is more friendly in nature as they are always ready to take
responsibilities of other but due to high uncertainty avoidance it hold strict core of belief and
behaviour. Mostly people of Bangladesh prefer hierarchical order in which every member attain
strong position therefore it should not required to specify their roles and responsibilities.
Why British need to be aware about the culture difference when doing business in Bangladesh?
As Bangladeshi people are more realistic and are eager to take responsibilities of other
fellow members therefore it is not quite difficult for the British people to work in Bangladeshi
environment. The only difficulties that Britisher faced is that Bangladeshi culture holds strict
core of belief and behaviour due to high uncertainty avoidance.

Language problems: As the language diversity creates problem in order to integrate the

Social habits: The social habits also influences the business operations of British to
conduct business in Bangladesh. The strategic decision of business also affected by pricing
difficulties and culture collusion.
Religion: Region also play an important role in influencing the business operation. For
example holidays, working hours, taste and preferences etc. will disturb the business operation.

There are different theory which define clearly about different culture in different nations:
Hofstede cultural dimension theory
Therefore Hofstede theory play a major role in developing the dimension of national culture
through conducting survey, theoretical reasoning and massive statistical analysis. Hofstede used
different aspect in order to demonstrate the nation culture: Individualism versus collectivism: Individualism refers to perform activities for their
own benefit whereas in collectivism, the activities are performed for the benefit for their
family, relatives and society (Harzing and Pinnington, 2010). For example Bangladesh

scores lower than UK as it is a collectivist society where everyone takes the responsibility
of members. Power Distance: It refers to carrying power and authorities to members within an
organisation whether equal or unequal. In Bangladesh people prefer hierarchical order in
which every one hold equal rights to perform their activities whereas in UK the people
need to minimise the inequality among people. Masculinity versus femininity: Masculinity refers to achievement, courage and
persistence that the member should required in an organisation. For example UK is
masculine society whereas Bangladesh is considered as femininity society.
Uncertainty Avoidance: In an organisation mostly people do not like vagueness and
uncertainty regarding which help them in preserving strong code of beliefs and
behaviours (Terpstra, Foley and Sarathy, 2012). Bangladesh country is highly uncertainty
avoidance which holds rigid score of belief and behaviour than UK.
Kluckhohn & Strodtbeck's value orientation theory:
This theory defines the human societies should provide answers to a limited number of
universal problems based on the value and culture in order to compare cultural dimension among
different countries. This theory has been tested in many cultures and also used in negotiating
ethnic groups understand each other (Achacoso and Silby, Groupserve 2011).
CONCLUSION
As per the above report it has been concluded that culture and attitude of people of
different nation are developed by Hofstede theory and Kluckhohn & Strodtbeck's value
orientation theory which demonstrate the dimensions of different culture. There are also different
aspects and problems that the members of an organisation faces during business operations
relating to language, religion, social habits and other cultural aspects.
