Introduction
Business communication is the process of communicating with each other related to
business activities (Kalogiannidis, 2020). Here, employees of company’s share necessary
information with each other which help their company to grow well. Business communication
further helps to improve the performance of employees by creating transparency among business
employees. GIBS model is used to analyse strong and weak skills of an individual while
handling the real corporate situation (Heo and Lee, 2018). The following report covers reflection
model GIBS on the situation related to business communication and conclusion.

Reflection/ GIBS model
Description- I am a marketing manager and I convey my team mates to attend the
meeting on Monday afternoon. Only 60% employees attend the meeting and others did not
attend. I scold them and ask the reason for not attending the meeting because they missed very
important session where they get to know about new ways of working.
Feelings- I thing that my employees are not interested in attending meeting and they are
irresponsible toward the company. I thought this all happen because of my employees attitude
and behaviour and the value of my words in their life. I feel bad and little demotivated that I am
unable to handle my department employees.
Evaluation- Good thing about the experience is that I get to know that I am lacking
behind in motivating and conveying proper message to my team mates. It is good to analyse our
weakness on time. Bad thing which happens in this situation is that I talk rudely with my team
mates.
Analysis- From the above mentioned situation I analyse that it’s not my employees
mistake for not attending the meeting but it’s my mistake that I am unable to convey them proper
and complete message. I did not mention the time of meeting and the topic which is going too
discussed in meeting. Hence, it is incomplete message.
Conclusion- I was unable to find the reason they why employees did not attend the
meeting and without analysing the reason I just shout on my employees and their irresponsibility
which should not be happen in my point of view.

Action Plan- In case the same situation arose again in future then I will make sure that I
will convey proper and complete message to my employees. From next onwards I will mention
the date, time and topic of meeting as a written document and circulate it within my department.
I will make sure that I must convey clear message with proper information to my department
employees. I will also make sure that I have to find the reason first then take actions toward
employees.
From the above model of GIBS on the situation of business communication I get to
know that clear and full message should be passed. I learned that effective business
communication is that communication which will be understood by receiver easily and which
contain all required information. I can learn good business communication by observing others at
organisation that how they communicate for official work and how other’s respond. I can also
take coaching to learn effective communication skills. From PPT of effective business
communication I learned some advantages of performing well in organisation and gaining
communication skill. I also learned that ineffective business communication impacted worst to
organisation and can create disputes and misunderstandings between management team and
employees which further impact badly upon reputation of company, performance of employees,
productivity of organisation and many others. Hence, it is essential to perform good and effective
business communication which covers all required information (Blewitt, Parsons and Shane,
2018). In the above GIBS model I describe my situation where I convey incomplete message and
due to this business functioning also impacted that many employees missed the meeting because
they are unable to identify the time and topic of meeting so they might reflect that the meeting is
not so important. Hence, they did not attend it. In case I convey them proper message that the
meeting is held on this day at this time and the topic of meeting is this then I think I will get
more employees at meeting. Secondly I can also mention the importance of attending that
meeting and request to all to attend the meeting on time. Hence, business communication plays
an important role in my life to learn many things.
Conclusion
From the above information it is concluded that Business communication is essential
skill to learn before entering the corporate world because the success of companies is depend on
their transparency and accuracy in their communication process. GIBS model is useful to reflect
on strong and weak skills of an individual in a particular situation.
