Introduction
Being a student it becomes very difficult to manage both studies and work at the same time and
due to this reason, proper knowledge regarding the communication processes is crucial. Proper
business communication helps a person to achieve their goals in future. Therefore from this
course, I have learned about the issues that occurs in a workplace. In other words, this course
helped me to know the importance of business communication procedure in achieving my career

relationship with the concerned person in the working place and therefore with the help of this
report, I will reflect my opinion, thoughts, ideas, and feelings regarding the two topics of this
course.
Communication in a group
In today's business environment, communication within a group is considered to be an important
approach to achieve respective goals (Tskhay and Rule, 2015). Besides this, proper
communicative aspect allows a person to share their feelings with the team members as well as
to complete their respective tasks (Boyle, Gilboa and Ishai, 2017). Hence, it is clear that
communication in a group is useful for team building and problem-solving aspects.
Communication experiences in working
At present, I am working as an assistant manager in a food company whose headquarter is
situated in Sydney, Australia. Being an assistant manager, I have to interact with my juniors as
well as seniors regarding the food quality. For this reason, my senior manager has nominated me
to build a small group so that I can get each and every information regarding the various
department of this food company. It is seen that to increase the sales revenue, the management
team has decided to sell their food products through online various platforms (Ntoumanis et al.,
2017). In today's environment, most of the customers eagerly purchase food products through
online channels rather than purchasing it from the market (Oetzel, 2017). Hence, this idea of the
management team will help the firm to increase their sales revenue throughout the Australian
market segments. In order to meet the sales rate, I have been appointed as a leader of a team and
under my direction, the employees will proceed further to achieve the team goals. In the

able to allocate them, their respective duties for completing the task. To reduce the challenges, I
have appointed three members to complete all the works on time and also to motivate the
employees for completing their task as per the scheduled time. With the help of these team
members, I was able to enhance my business communication skills, which further helped me in
achieving the desired targets for the company.
Although, proper means of communication process was lacking in the group members and
therefore proper training was needed to enhance the group effectiveness. Group communication
is considered as a mode of communication between managers and employees regarding various
matters that occurs within the workplace (Vijayakumar et al., 2016). Providing the desired
confidence to the team members helps in increasing the execution of the work processes and
enhances the overall performance of the firm. With the help of this course, I came to know about
the usefulness of group communication process, and it helped me to enhance my business
communication approach throughout the workplace. After watching various videos on YouTube,
I gathered new ideas regarding the aspects of business communication. The utilization of the
desired concepts of group communication, I was able to enhance my communication skills.
Hence with the help of proper communicative aspects, I can say that the firm will easily increase
their sales rate at a high amount and thereby achieve their business goals in some years.
Listening as a business communication aspect
In today's business world, listening is considered as a good habit for a person to enhance their
communication level (Croucher, 2015). Most of communication experts suggests that a good
listener will understand the inner meaning or opinions of other people regarding various tasks
(Goh and Vandergrift, 2018). Therefore, it is clear that the listening course is also an important
aspect of the communication process which helps a student to achieve their respective goals.
Improper listening within the workplace can cause serious issues in executing the business
procedures of the concerned company (Chen, Huang, and Jan, 2016).
Listening is defined as the perspective of giving attention to someone's thoughts or ideas
regarding the work-related matters (Masalimova, Porchesku, and Liakhnovitch, 2016). Several
managers in the workplace do not properly listen to their juniors and it sometimes creates various
issues and affects the execution of the work processes (Ranjan, Kumari, and Chakrawarty, 2015).
Hence for me, the aspects of business communication is considered vital for the growth and
able to allocate them, their respective duties for completing the task. To reduce the challenges, I

development of the firm. Due to lack of focus, interacting with the juniors becomes an issue for
many people. Most of the scholars, suggested that the important exercise of listening is silence
(Applebaum, 2016). With the help of this exercise, a person can easily enhance their listening
ability and it will help to increase their communication skills in the respective business
environment (Vincenza et al., 2016).
It is seen that in today's environment about 92 percent of the communication procedure is non-
verbal and therefore listening is the best approach to understand other’s messages (Han, 2015).
In order to increase my listening skills, I have arranged a meeting with my team members
regarding task related matters. Listening to everyone thoughts as well as the ideas will help in
completing the task successfully. Many of the team members retains a positive attitude for
completing the tasks while others give some casual ideas (King, 2016). It was a good feeling for
me to listen to their ideas. From this meeting, I have realized that listening to others regarding
task related matter can help a person to solve various issues and if we ignore someone’s thoughts
or ideas then sometimes it can enhance the workplace issues. Becoming a student I can say that
listening procedure helped me to enhance my communicational skills. After listening to my
fellow classmates’ opinion, I can easily complete my task within the stipulated time and it will
helps in scoring goods marks for the team.
