INTRODUCTION
Business communication is define as procedure of sharing information among the
peoples in as well as outside a company which is conducted for gaining commercial advantage of
an organisation (Hynes, 2012). This report is based on Mr Fishy, a fish and chips restaurant
operating at Borough market near London. They are facing communication gap among the
employees because their staffs are from different religion, culture and language. Topics included
in this report are common challenges and barriers which impact on communication, strategies for
overcoming it and influence of culture on communication and negotiation.
MAIN BODY
1. Common challenges and barriers to effective communication
Mr. Fishy, a fish and chips restaurant go through various communication barriers and
challenges because their some employees are British and some are non British. Major challenges
faced by them are mentioned below:-

Cultural barrier: This take place because from 20 employees some are belongs to
British culture and some are Non British. Due to this culture of all peoples get differ
which leads to conflict and communication issues.
Language barrier: Employees of respective restaurant belongs to diverse culture and
place due to which they have different language and this will leads to communication
barrier and conflict.
2. Strategies for overcoming communication barriers
There are several ways which Mr. Fishy, a fish and Chips restaurant can adopt in order to
overcome communication barriers among the employees. From which several are mentioned
below:-
Provide training: Respective restaurant can provide training and development classes to
their staffs so that they can effective communicate each other. This will also help them in
understanding and respecting each other culture, language and religions (Pearson, 2017).
Develop policy: Management of Mr. Fishy, Fish and Chips restaurant must develop
policy that every employees must communicate with each other in common language i.e.
English or local language. This is so because through it their will be no discrimination
between other peoples.
3. Cultural influences on communication and negotiation
Culture of an organisation impact on communication and negotiation process directly or
indirectly. In context of Mr. Fishy, Fish and Chips Restaurant they are facing communication
issues among 20 employees because some are British and some are Non British, this also leads to
diversification in their culture and language. In this respect it is essential for respective company
manager to develop proper strategies as well as plans so that they can avoid communication
issues at their workplace (Sharp and Brumberger, 2013). Along with this they can also develop
proper culture which help staffs in understanding each other properly.

CONCLUSION
By analysing above discussed topic it can be determine that communication is necessary
in an organisation because through it one person able to understand others requirement and
feelings. There are several communication barrier which are faced by a person while
communicating with other such as language barriers, culture barriers, religion barriers and so on.
So it is essential for company's manger to develop proper strategies and plans which help in
avoiding these issues in effective manner. Along with this, there are several cultural factors that
will impact on communication as well as negotiation in directly and indirectly manner.
