INTRODUCTION
Business communication refers to transferring the information, ideas, views, knowledge within
the organization and outside the organization. It helps to improve the organizational relation and
coordination between the employees and management. The study is focusing on opening the
beach resort in Sri Lanka where the most of luxury hotels is suffered from the terrorists attack.
The report highlight the challenges and barriers in the effective communication and the different
measure to overcome the barriers in the organization and transfer the proper information to the
audience. It describe the influence of culture on the communication and negotiation. The report
focus on to analyses the purpose and principles behind the formation of organizational
communication and the various principles in effective communication. It evaluate the
communication practices in the organization. The aim of the study is to improve the
communication and the coordination among the employees so they can resolve the conflict in the
company and manage the activities to get the higher profit.

LO 1 The purpose and principle behind the different forms of organizational communication
Organizational communication refers to the exchange of ideas, views and information within the
organization and outside the organization. The communication is necessary to communicate the
information to the stakeholders and management to get the expected outcomes from the project
and activities (Tsoh, and et.al., 2016). The different forms of organizational communication are
internal communication, external operational communication and personal communication.
The purpose behind the forms of communication
Flow of information : The purpose behind the different forms of organizational communication
are transferring the resources and share the values to get the result of increasing profit and
influence their employees to work toward a common goal. It improves interpersonal relation in
the organization by transferring the information and aware the employees about the decision of
the management team (Tolosa, and Amundarain, 2017).

Coordination : The internal operational communication improves the coordination among the
employees. It helps in providing the detail information about the job role of each employee and
define their work area which increase their coordination and motivate them to work in a team (3

Learning management skills : The various forms of communication help in learning the new
skills like management skill, leadership skill in the organization. Communication transfer the
information with the various ideas, knowledge, beliefs, perception, advice etc. These ideas and
information help them to gain the new knowledge and learn the skills from their superior and
colleagues.
Prepare for the changes : The purpose behind the different forms of organizational
communication is to prepare their employees for the changes in the company. The
communication is the best method to aware the employees about the change and get their views
on the organizational changes. It also help to address the problem of employees regarding the
changes (Franklin and Goff, 2019).
Conflict management : Through the personal communication management get the views and
perception about the changes and their job role. It help them to know the problems of the
employees and the reason behind the conflict. They manage the conflict among the employees
and management by communicating with them and understand their need and demands and the
expectation from the organization (Bovée, Thill, and Raina, 2016).
Principle behind the different forms of communication
Understand the audience : The aim of the communication is to understand the audience need
and demand and get their immediate solution. The audience of the organization is its customer,
employees, shareholders etc.
Strive for clarity : The key principle behind the various forms of communication is to transfer
the clear idea to their employees. It help in transfer the clear purpose in the mind of the
employees through the internal operational communication so they can work toward the common
goal of the organization.
LO 4 Principle of effective communication
The effective communication help in improving the relation in the organization and coordinate
the employees working in the beach resort in Sri Lanka. The principle of effective

communication are principle of clarity, objective, understanding the audience, consistency etc.

Principle of clarity : The principle of clarity refers to communicate the right information in a
right way so the employee can understand the purpose of the organization. The organization
apply the principle of clarity in the project of opening the resort in the Sri Lanka. It help them to
improve the communication between the management and employees and give the proper
information about the resort to the public through different medias like mass communication,
social media, emails and advertisement. To apply the principle the can communicate with the
team member about their ideas and views and also ask them for giving their suggestions and
opinions (Meuter, and et.al., 2015).
Principle of Objective : The principle of objective refers to prepare the objective of the
organization and clear it to their employees and investors. The clear objective connect the
employees and work for achieving the organizational goal with the individual goal. The beach
resort projects needs to communicate the objective of the organization to the employees and
customer so they can explain the safety measure taken by the organization and different facilities
provided in the resort to the clients (Key principles of business communication, 2019).
Economy : The improper or unnecessary use of communication increases the cost of the
organization. The channels of communication must be used effectively and efficiently in the
organization so they can minimize their cost. To apply the principle of economy in organization
they have to define the channels which are used in transferring the information, ideas and
knowledge to the audience (Ling, 2017). The proper channel of communication help to attract
the customer toward the organization and improve the relation between the employees. To the
economy factor they can save the time and cost of the organization and spent this cost in
different department like marketing and Human resource department which reduces the conflict
in the organization.
LO 5 Communication practices of themselves and others
The communication practices of themselves defines the strength and weakness of the
organization and the communication practices of others defines the strength and weakness of the
employees and the audience. By analyzing the strength and weakness they will find the gap area
in the organization and the different measures to the filing the gap which help in increasing their
market share and popularity (Nedelcu, and Wyss, 2016).

Evaluation of Organizational communication practices
Strength : The organizational communication practices help in acquiring the goal and objective
of the company and attracting more customer toward the resort. It helps to attract the customer
and provide them the various services to retain the employees in the organization.
The communication practices help in increasing the productivity and profitability of beach resort
by influencing the investors to get the investment and change the perception of customer toward
safety measures of the resort (Kauffmann, Winkler, Naujoks, and Vollrath, 2018).
Weakness : Communication need the proper way to transfer the information. The improper
communication increases the unnecessary cost and time of the organization. To open the resort in
Sri Lanka they need to explore their idea by the multiple channels. Some times the
communication practices of the organization force the employees to follow their instruction
which reduces their efficiency and performance in the organization which ultimately affects the
productivity of the organization.
Evaluating the communication practices of the employees and customer
Strength : The communication practice of employees increase the coordination in the
organization and provide better services to the customer of the beach resort. It help them to
address the problems of the customer and solve their problems quickly by communicating to the
team member or higher authority (Woods, Morrison, and Palincsar, 2018). The communication
practice of employees help them to gain the knowledge from their colleagues and superior and
improve their skills.
Weakness : The communication practices of the employees some time create problems for the
organization. It arises the conflict between the employees because of their different views and
delay their work which ultimately affect the business profit. The conflict among the employees
also affect their services which create the negative impact on the customer and decreases the
market share of the beach resort.
CONCLUSION
The report summarizes the different communication barriers in the organization like cultural
barriers, language, gender, physical and perceptual barriers in the organization. It also provide
the different measures to improve the communication barriers in the organization like through
the training and development program, understanding the need and demand of the organization

and through sharing the views of the management to the employees. It summarize the purpose of
organization behind the different forms of communication such as internal operational
communication, personal communication and external operational communication. It concluded
the different measures to apply the principles of effective communication in the project of beach
resort.
