usage and social media attention. Scientometrics, 103(2), 555-564.
The aim of the researcher to write this article was to bring to limelight what the social media is and how it
is used today on social ground and economics field. This is a computer based technology of websites
and applications that allows a computer user to create a file of information and share its content
over the internet. Facebook, instagram, google+ are just few in the endless list of the social
media applications we have today. Initially, just after the innovation of this technology was
embraced, social media platforms were used by friends and family member to share content
mainly for fun. But in today’s world organizations have followed the path.
Undisputable research claims; about eight of ten employees at the work place use the social
during the work time. No doubt that the employer should seek for a benefit from the social media
use in the organization rather than striving to stop it in claim of working hours.
The addiction of the social media is comparable to that of drug abuse there are people who are
too eager to receive a notification from the information from a friend. When they receive this
they feel a mental relaxation. The urge is almost unstoppable. Mental break have been well

perceived by the employers and employees are encouraged to have brief periodic breaks at work.
Situations where an employee will disrupt his collogue busy at work for a talk to relax his mind
through sharing of experiences is eradicated. Using the social media for your mental break also
reduces the noise made during movements of the employees from their offices to maybe the
news room to relax their mind.

Marwick, A. E., & Boyd, D. (2014). Networked privacy: How teenagers negotiate context in social
media. New media & society, 16(7), 1051-1067.
This article discuss the findings of the research on the impact of social media to the teenagers
due to its fast trending factor and relate the findings to the business world today. It argues that;
access to the social media is available almost everywhere, therefore when a piece of information
is posted in the social media it’s likely to be accessed by every employee. The implication of this
high level of availability that is not affected by the land terrain or climate and distance meant a
lot to Mark limited a juice blending company that was the spacemen of these findings. Receiving
of the information through the social media is a direct communication model and therefore there
are little chances of receiving altered message. It’s also a fast means of communication that is
almost instant, therefore embracing its use will help in creating the brand awareness and thus
promotion. On reliability, the article highlights that, it is possible to pin a memo on the notice
board but some employees will not develop the interest of reading it through. This means that
they will receive possibly late and altered information unlike the case with the social media
where the information is relayed direct to the person concerned and received instantly.

sources following the release of the Working Group I Summary for Policymakers. Public
Understanding of Science, 26(7), 815-825.
In a day an employee is likely to encounter a difficulty in performing her duty and stack, but
with the use of the social media, the employee can seek for help from the social media by posting
the question. Its worth to acknowledge that, the fun in the social media extends to sharing of
professional knowledge. It’s very unlikely to happen that your post in the social media attracts no
reply regardless of the kind of information the question need for the answer. This therefore leads
to the access of information of interest when the need arises. The article argues that social media
platform and tweeter to be specific is one of the biggest platforms that offers open source
information of value through the willingness of the users. It is therefore possible to consult when
the need to arises and get free advices on what step could be more appropriate to take next in
your business.
Coworkers can interact in the social media and bear strong relationships between workers.
Through sharing of ideas, interaction and engagement morale of the workers toward work is
boosted as a result there is more likelihood of recording a positive result at the end of the day.
This is because the employees will be performing their duties with the willingness from heart
unlike the situation where the employees perform under command.

The interest of this article was to deliver a report on benefits attached to the use of the social
media on the factor time by a group of researchers. Time is very crucial aspect in an organization
and there is therefore a great need to save it. The assumption of the employer is that, he pays you
for the service you deliver per amount of time. On the launch of a product or a brand the social
media is faster than all means according to the argument in the article. Besides being instant; the
information posted last in the platform until the administrator deletes it. This creates high
chances of the information to be viewed by a large number of people over a short duration of
time. Also conducting of online meetings instead of meeting in hall to address our issue of
concerns will save us commendable period of time. Imagine of conducting a meeting in your
with your workmate while in their offices and after a click of a button you switch on to
something else in your duty. On average the use of the social media in this company is estimated
to save time amounting to a day wasted in the organization.

The writer of this article had a point of interest in minimizing the expenditure of the organization
and found the use of the social media as a remedy in that; the new digital communication will
outdo the need of printers previously used to print memo and circulars. Generally this
communication mode will save on the need of maintaining large paper files of which are prone to
sabotage and important documents lost. The use of the social media according to the argument in
the article will also reduce the number of required staffs like the secretaries and clerks, it will
also have an impact on cutting the power bills.

formalized risk management process to address social media risk?. International Journal of
Accounting Information Systems, 28, 31-44.
This article highlights the adverse effect of insecurity of data in the social media and the system
in general. The researcher identified and documented the fact that the use of media in the over
the internet is prone to malware. When these documents are ‘eaten’ up the organization is left
without the data necessary for the future reference. Documents are also prone to hacking and the
organization may end up losing all or vital information. In such cases, you have no option rather
than getting assistance from an expert who might not be available or are very expensive. In an
almost similar case in this article; occasionally internet signals are not available in all places at
all time. When this happen at work place the company will be forced to seek an alternative
means of communication. It all becomes a mess when this means is unavailable at the moment of
urgency.

addiction engage in non-social media tasks. Journal of psychiatric research, 97, 84-88.
This article claims that 80% of the internet users use the social media; out of this percentage 20%
of the users use the social media at work place illegally. For this reason, some companies have
even burned the possession of the social media accessing the social media at the workplace.
Research has proven that use of the social media, facebook alone reduces productivity of the
organization by 2%. Some employees are totally addicted and can scroll for a couple of minutes.
Evidently the amount of output per unit time of the employee will be reduced.

of information. Science, 347(6221), 509-514.
The bitter pill of the social media use in an organization as discussed in this article is; when two
department officers communicate over the social media on matters of the offices, the information
may fall on bad hands.
It’s a common case for disagreement to arise between the employers. It therefore becomes a risk
to allow the employees to access the social media at work because they can tarnish the name of
the organization with only a single post on the media over the dispute.
Users of the social media meet unpleasing post from other users very occasionally. He might end
up leaving the site only t miss an important piece of information.

The dirty game of politics is the point of discussion in this article. It explains the negative impact
of the social media on fake news and harassment by users. It’s a common case to find a person
using the nickname in the social media platform. This helps him to hide his real identity. Usually
this kind of people has hidden agenda of attacking other. In such a situation somebody can just
arise and attack his fellows. Fake news about individuals and companies are posted in the social
media with an aim of building a negative publicity to ascend in power in the field of politics of
business. There have been witnessed cases of suicide caused by social media harassment with
recent case happening last week on Friday following a previous lover posting naked photos of
the girl.
