INTRODUCTION
Communication is the heart of the business. It is the information sharing between people
with outside an organisation which is performed for the commercial benefits of the company.
Without communication it is not possible to promote the products and services to potential
customers or in the market. This report will discuss the detailed of business communication.
POST 1
Characteristics of exemplary business communication.
Business communication is very important part of the enterprise. It is very important that
every member of company can share the ideas in effective manner as well as express there
suggestions to company (Kernbach, Eppler and Bresciani, 2015).
Characteristics of business communication:
ï‚· Effective communication is a practical aspect of the information.
ï‚· Only factual information are conveyed as each and every thing like date, time, place,
name all are clearly mentioned.
ï‚· In business communication the language chosen is simple, brief and clear abd without
ambiguity.
There are mainly three types of business communication which are as follows-
External Communication: This is the type of communication when business
communicate with people outside. For example, managers communicate with customers,
suppliers, vendors are all external communication. It can be written, oral, verbal or electronic.
Internal Communication: This is the type of communication when business
communicate with people inside the organisation (Forms of effective Communication, 2019). For
example, managers, employees and others. Internal communication may be formal or informal as
depends on some circumstances of the company. It can also be written, oral, verbal or electronic.
There are some categories in internal communication which are as follows-
ï‚· Upward Communication- flow of information employees to managers.
ï‚· Downward Communication- flow of information seniors manager to subordinates for
competing the given task. It is like giving instructions to employees to complete the
assigned work.

ï‚· Literal Communication- flow of information with same or similar post or rank within
organisation (Dubinsky, 2019). It is also very important because everyone needs to share
ideas and thoughts to there friends and subordinates.
The best suitable form of communication for the post of Team Leader is internal-formal
communication, as team leader have to use upward communication as they have to deal with
managers. On the other side, team leader have to forward the information to team members.
Written and verbal both type of communication is required for the post of team leader.
POST 2
Critique the team leader post.
According to Mikkelson,York and Arritola, (2015) the post of team leader is one of the
best post that person can achieve by only having bunch of skills such as time management,
effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, patience, multi-tasking, critical
thinking and many others skills are needed. Communication skill is the essence of team leader
post. Team member argued that team leader do not have problem solving skills as they do at able
to solve the team issue's ad they got panic and aggressive which is not at all good for the post of
team leaders. In support of this Dunne and et.al., (2016) said that, patience is very important to
have in team leaders as it is one of the best tool in overcoming frustration as it allows leaders to
suspend judgement long enough to make informed decisions.
Another employees said that, team leader is very good at time management skills as all
the roles and duties are assigned on time and Team leader always put there skill of time
management on play in order to make sure that they could maximise their time and achieve
desire goals of team. But another team member argues that, Team leader do not have time
management skill as they do not make proper schedule of the work by which mismanagement in
work occurs at last moment. For example, at time of peak work-load, if work is not managed on
given dead line than it could leads to big issue. As per the Jamal and Abu Bakar, (2017) leader
without time management skill cannot be called as leader because team leader have to manage
there time as well as manage the time of entire team effectively.

Summarise the learning
The above study conducted on business communication and skills of team leader post,
student have gained high level of knowledge which is very important for the coming future. First

of all, the discussion of business communication is very important as it provided the insight
depth information on the effective business communication. If communication is not effective
than it is not possible for any individual or firs to archive desire goals and objectives. Lack of
communication can ruined the entire business strategies (Laws and Prideaux, 2017). Thus,
student have understood the important of business communication, Further, the types of business
communication and flow of information is also cleared and well-understood. The types of
communication which suits on the post of team leader was also discussed in the above report that
makes student confidence that they could lead the team if they have effective communication
skills.
This knowledge student could apply in there professional life as student will develop all
these skills by putting efforts and become effective and efficient team leader. In addition to this,
the knowledge of business communication and skills of team leaders is also very useful in
opening new start-ups when student seeks to communicate with vendors, customers, employees
and other stakeholders (Smith, 2017). Student have also learned the important of problem
solving skills as it is another key to make an effective team and become an efficient team leader
of any organisation. On the other had, on the critical analysis part, students have understood the
pros and cons and by that student can ruined all the cons by taking all those points in
consideration.
