INTRODUCTION
Business communication is an important factor for sharing information and knowledge
between people inside and outside of an organizational to gain commercial benefits for the
organization. This report is based on Tesco which is an British multinational grocery and general
merchandise retailer headquarter is in England UK. This assignment is based on significance of
various kinds of business information with internal business information. It also includes
corporate communication by external corporate communication for an existing product by
identifying both ethical and legal issues with operational issues.
TASK 1
P1 Explain various kinds of business information.
In an organization various kinds of information share with each other to reach at desirable
goals and objectives by using various methods that are:
Verbal:
In verbal information information and knowledge should be share with others by using
speech (Adler and Elmhorst, 2012 ). The main purpose behind using verbal information that
employs easily understood words which is spoken by ensuring that enunciation, stress on words
and tone should be appropriate. In context of Tesco uses verbal information that are face to faces
conversation that helps in sharing important knowledge and information easily with one another.
In Board meetings of Tesco by using verbal information they deliver decisions that can be done
by face to face.
Written:
In Written communication involves kinds of messages that build by written word. It is
most important and most effective also, used as an internally for operations of business such as

Memos. In context of Tesco they use letters and other form of written mode of communication to
easily reach and communicate with consumers and employees about financial concerns and bills.
They also use reports to share information within the staff members to record and show
information about events that happened in entire week and month. So main purpose is to share
right kind of knowledge and information with right people and it keep as well defined proof
(Bargiela-Chiappini, Nickerson and Planken, 2013..).
Multimedia:
Multimedia is a important content by using combination of various content in which text,
audio, images and animation and many more. In context of Tesco to reach at large no. of
consumers they advertise by using these basis simultaneously. The main purpose behind that it
give information about products and services by innovative way so that enchant large no. of
consumer base.
Web based:
Web based software that operate internet by using web browser, in web based consist of
Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo mail ( Fall and et.al ., 2013.). In context of Tesco they operate their
own website in which all kind of information that helps to reach large no. of consumers. The
main purpose is to sell products products and services through online.

External communication is the transmission of data and information between the two
organisations and sometimes it occurs in person and exterior of the company. In that person can
be clients, dealers and government and other higher authorities (.Mai and Hoffmann, 2014.).
The common external communication are advertisements of an organisation, feedback to a
consumer, press conference, annual reports, print media, tenders, brochures and questionnaire.
There are close relationship in internal and external communication to share knowledge at
appropriate time.
It proved beneficial to achieve organisational goals and objectives in proper way by building
strong relationship with community and their members to sell products and services in proper

to evaluate position in market with by asking relevant questions regarding their services

consumers and after that read financial reports in well manner.

P5 Explain Legal and ethical issues in context of business information.
In an organization while share information and knowledge with each other, face lot of
legal and ethical issues that are as follows:
Legal issues:
In the business world many times organizations store and utilize information regarding
people and then misuse it. To protect the self interest of people government bring Data protection
act 1998 as it protect information from misuse by building laws.
The another major issue that while using computer, hackers hack or misuse software or assist to
person to gain profitability to gain access to protect files from others computer ( Sharp and
Brumberger, 2013.). In that case computer misuse act 1990 helps to protect self interest of an
organization and individual in better manner.
Ethical issues:
Information ownership: if an organization create or build information in their day to day
work then they have to be responsible for it. Example: annual report. In context of Tesco if they
are owner of the information then they have to protect information in confidential manner with
integrity.
Whistle blowing:
In that employee raises the problem related to business practice in an organization or
outside of it (Toth, 2013.). The concern related to fraud, danger, crime and other serious issues
that majorly effect on consumers, colleagues and other stakeholders and goodwill of

maintain ethical values.

P6 Elaborate operational issues in business information.
In business operation there are various kinds of operational issues that are as follows:
Security of knowledge and information comes under operational issue, it is all about maintaining
and integrating organizational information in proper way.
Security of information:
The more dependency on tools and techniques to store knowledge and information
increases that means risk imposed of failure in system and attacks of viruses also enhances. So
that kind of operational issues arise in organisation to eradicate these issues Tesco build sound
system.
Health and safety issues:
Health and safety can be a operational issues, in that case many kind of regulations
should be applied (Waldeck and et.al ., 2012). Health and safety act 1992 denotes about
minimum requirement of work place and at extent the employers ensure that work place meet the
requirement of employees in regard of schedules, tools and techniques, positive environment and
interface in computer and operator. In that employer have to provide relevant information risk
factor that associated while working with tools and techniques and adopting proper measures
with regulation. In context of Tesco they build proper regulations to meet with business
objectives in proper way.
P7 Explain electronic and non electronic methods of business communication.
In an organisation business communication is very much important to share knowledge
and information to right people at right time by using various kinds of methods ( Sharp and
Brumberger, 2013.). To communicate organisation have to avail various kinds of tools or
methods that are:
Electronic method of business communication:
Electronic communication is very much popular in these days and use by all kinds of
organisation that it helps to share information in rapid manner with potential consumers. In that
method various ways of communication includes Email, Phone calls, video conferencing, digital

broadcasting, SMS and fax that all helps to communicate in proper manner with right consumer
base in proper manner.
WWW (World wide web):
WWW is a globally used and can be easily approachable to everyone, primarily it used to
share knowledge and information. Their target audience is basically who access the internet in
proper way. In context of Tesco they use WWW to advertise and promote their products and
services on other popular sights. Also it gather important knowledge such as taste and
preferences of consumers by collecting important information from internet.
Electronic mail:
Email is an electronic form of letter and popular now a days. It is one of the best source
to share knowledge and information in quick way (Waldeck and et.al ., 2012). In context of
Tesco they internally use it to share information to staff members and externally send messages
to potential consumers about their products and offers in right way.
Non electronic method of business communication:
In non electronic method are very much important in organisation to share knowledge
that are very much relevant source and receiver easily understand the message.

It is most effective form of communication between the people, it helps to express what
