Australia and global world.
The presentation will consider the following points:
 Current status of garbage problem in Australia and global
world
 Role of business organization
 Key organizations contributing in the problem
 Practical strategies and measures for reduction in waste
 Lastly, major organizations laying steps towards waste free
society
INTRODUCTION

 The Australians produces about 64 million tonnes of waste
(2.7 tonnes per person)
 There is a gradual rise in waste in Australia (Kilvert, 2018)
 There are three main sources of waste
named Household, commercial (industrial) and demolition
waste
 By 2050, it is expected to rise in future to over 100 million
tonnes.
CURRENT GARBAGE
PROBLEM

The business organizations attains a role in rising amount of
waste in the country.
1. By developing the use of plastic based packaging
2. It is generated in the manufacturing of products.
3. Through improper disposal of waste product
4. Less concern towards the environment
5. Lack of awareness (Aschemann, Hooge, & Normann,
2016)
ROLE OF BUSINESS

Organizations indirectly contributes to the waste material.
This is clearly depicted via following examples:
1. Globally recognized company named Amazon has
developed high waste material on its annual prime day
(Davidson, 2019).
2. BHP Billiton is one of the contributor . It produces waste
via its mining operations.
3. Coca Cola is also contributing to waste crises (Laville,
2019).
CONTRIBUTORS

It develops the duty of the business enterprise to dispose
their waste at the correct time.
There are multiple ways to minimize the waste in a feasible
manner. It mainly includes the following:
1. Reduce packaging
2. Remove single use cutlery
3. Adequate training
4. Develop environmental projects (Cultivatingcapital, 2019)
REDUCTION IN WASTE

Waste management will provide multiple benefits to business
organizations
1. Cost saving or cutting waste disposable cost
2. Competitive advantage
3. Better reputation
4. Improved health
5. Fulfilling environmental responsibilities

ADVANTAGES

Several business organizations are contributing to the waste
free society.
1. Woolworths has initiated ‘Food waste diversion programs’
(Woolworthsgroup, 2019).
2. Coles is also developing the use of ‘Single use plastic
bags’.
3. Amazon is also laying its steps towards sustainability
WASTE FREE SOCIETY

 It is evaluated that ‘Waste management’ is disposing the
waste material in a right manner. Rising waste has become
a crucial problem in Australia.
 Hence, it concludes that this problems can be solved if
business organizations will lay suitable initiatives towards
waste management.
