In the present era, every business organisation requires developing its competitive
advantage so as it can gain the effective market share and profitability. Human resources of the
firm is the main element which assist in developing competitive advantage (Moskowitz, Beckley
and Resurrection, 2012. It is only possible while in the organisation new and creative idea
generates. Innovation and creation is the best way to generate profitability within the company.
The following report provides the effective understanding about creativity and innovation with
respect of business organisation.
MAIN BODY
Innovation is one of the best way within the business enterprise by which firm can
generate revenue and maximum market share. In order to bring the innovation and creativity
within the organisation, company have to train and encourage its workforce as they take
initiative to generate new idea and thoughts about the business product, process and functions.
Being an employee in the Tommy Hilfiger company, I have various roles and
responsibility toward the organisation. Its main objective is to produce the high quality of
product and services for gain the customer attraction. I am obligated to generate something new
in the company so as its product and services are new designed. I have to bring new thoughts,
innovative idea etc. so as I can make new design of the business and improve the existing
performance of organisation. In addition to this, I have analysed that cited venture is facing the
issue related to the low market share and profitability due to ineffective quality of product and
services. Being an employee in the organisation, I have responsibility to resolve this issue in an
effective manner and produce an effective solution.
From the above discussion, it has been analysed that I have responsibility to deliver effective
business solution by my creative idea, thoughts and innovation. In order to provide an effective
idea and thoughts to generate the innovation within the company, I have to improve various
effective skills and abilities like effective communication, leadership, time management,
coordination, team working etc. In order to improve my existing skill and enhance my
personality and professionalism for attainment of the organisation goal, It is very important to
analyses my existing personality, experience, competencies etc. With assistance of the self-
assessment and analysis, I can able to understand my strength and weakness. In order to reflect

my personality and competencies, Kolb's learning cycle is best model which assist me.
Following are detail information of this model-
 Experience- This stage defines that life is full of experience as individual have various
kind of experience which assist them in analysing their personality. An individual is
always learn from the experience in their life and there are countless opportunities in their
life. In the context of improving my personality and professionalism for attainment the
goal of Tommy Hilfiger, this stage will assist me in large manner as I can learn from my
experience (St‐Jean, 2012). For instance, in the college level I have attended various
personality development workshops and seminar by the international professors. That
was my great experience in my life as I have opportunities to learn the various languages,
skill and ability. These all things will definitely aid me in my current employment and
future job. In the duration of the college level seminar and workshop,, I have also
opportunity to gain the knowledge about the business management. As I was the student
of MBA so my workshop was organised on the topic of business creativity. In this
workshop, the professor has provided the depth knowledge and understanding about the
business. Through this opportunity I have learnt various things about the business start-up
and survive ion the competitive business environment.
From the school and college level seminar and workshop, my personality has been positivity
developed and professionalism is also enhanced. Thus, I can say that my experience really
helped me in improving my personality and professionalism.
 Reflect- In this stage individual generally thinks about what we have done and
experienced. Some people are naturally good at this stage. In a simple word it can be said
that once an individual learnt the things and new skills from their experience then they
become able to develop their own personality. Once they learnt from their experience
then they ready to reflect these things in their personality. In the context of my
personality, I have learnt many new things, skills, creativity and ability from my
experience like workshop and seminar about the personality development in the school
and college level. From these learnings and opportunities, I have reflected and observed
my own personality. I have measure my past and existing improvement after these
workshops and seminar experience so as I have founded that I have improved my
professionalism in an effective manner as it has gained the various kinds of knowledge,

idea, creativity and innovative idea about the business. My various skills like
communication, leadership, interaction, coordination can also enhance by these
opportunities.
 Conceptualise- Once an individual pass from thinking about our experience to
interpreting them they enter into the realm of what Kolb termed 'conceptualization'. To
conceptualize is to generate a hypothesis about the meaning of our experiences. In this
stage individual use their experience in the reality in their life. They use their experience
in their daily and performance in the organisation (Buxton, Burns, and De 2012). In my
context, I can use my previous experience about the seminar and workshop in the existing
working in Tommy Hilfiger company. In this stage I can use my improved skill, ability,
knowledge, idea and creativity in the business context of the cited venture. The cited firm
required to improve its business performance and quality of product and services. It is
facing the issue related to low profitability and market share due to the ineffective

customer services and quality of product and services. Hence, being a employee I have to
use my creative idea, skill, ability and creativity in the business and improve the business
performance. For instance, I can use my communication, leadership and coordination
skill in the development of effective team. I can generate an effective team and set the
specific target for business success. My effective leadership, communication and
coordination skill will assist me in delivering my knowledge and idea to my team
members. With assistance of my skill and ability I can improve the existing business
performance in the cited venture. During the period of employments in the Tommy
Hilfiger, my main aim is to produce the high quality of work so as customer services and
quality of product and services can improve (Gibbs, 2012). For this objective, I have use
my business knowledge , idea and creativity in the cited venture. In order to gain the
effective outcomes and result I require delivering my creative idea and knowledge to my
other team member so as they can also support me in attaining the business objectives.
 Plan- This is the last and most effective stage of this model under which summing up and
learning from the past experience involves the key element of reflection. In order to learn
from our experience, it is not sufficient just to have them. This will only take us into
stage 1 of the cycle. In this stage, once an individual have taken the experience and
understand their improved skill, idea, knowledge and ability then they make the plan for
the future development in their personality (Calderhead, 2012). In addition to this, they
can also use this past experience and skill which have gained from the past workshop and
seminar in the current working. In this stage, I use my gained skill related to
communication, Leadership, coordination etc in the current business scale.
From the above discussion, it has been ascertained that there are various kind of stages in the
Kolb’s reflective model which assist individual to understand and reflect their own personality
and experience. Being an employee of the Tommy Hilfiger, I have various kinds of roles and
responsibility to resolve the issue related to poor quality of product and services and ineffective
customer services. In order to improve the quality and effectiveness of customer services in the
cited venture. I have required to use my all skill, experience, ability and creativity which I have
gained in the past experience as I have attended workshop, seminar and other personality
development classes in the college and school level. By analysing my personality, I have
assessed that I have following strength and weakness-

Strength- I have effective communication trait which assist me in transferring my knowledge
and idea to subordinate at the workplace. This quality assists me in attracting the customer and
define the features and quality of product and services so as they can influence to purchase the
product and services. In addition to this, I have effective team working skill through which I can
easily generate the team at workplace and accomplish the work or assignment in collective
manner. With assistance of this skill, I develop an effective team and coordinate their work for
accomplish the determined task. I have also effective knowledge and idea about the business
activities and functions so as I can smoothly carry out my roles and responsibility about the
Tommy Hilfiger company.
Weakness- From the analysis of my personality I have assesses that I have very lack of time
management skill which creates barrier in accomplishing the given business assignment within
the given period of time (Hopkinson, 2014). I am very weak to handle the large number of
customers the single time. This is my major weakness. In addition to this, I have also ineffective
technical skill by which I am unable to generate the report of business with help of computer. I
have not effective knowledge about the operation of computer and other technology at
workplace.
