1INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS
The strong bonding and integration of the different forms of markets across the world that
helps in better connectivity of the global economy can be termed as globalisation. As per my
understanding globalisation is a phenomenon that increases the communication between different
nations and also helps in bridging social, cultural and regional gaps (Beck, 2018). The term itself
is a set of processes that are socially related and intensifies social interdependency. It is involved
in fostering in people and growing awareness among the people by maintaining transparency and
strengthening communication between the distant and local. I have seen that globalisation has a
huge impact on our surroundings, behaviour and attitudes. Although globalisation has increased
our connectivity and strengthened economic gaps, yet with the passage of time changes are
taking place. As I was going through the case study I can understand that globalisation has
impacted our environment to a great extent. It is responsible for the phenomenon of global
warming within various states (Chakrabarty, 2019). The effects of globalisation on climate and
environment have intensified. There has been impact in both environment and tourism sectors.
Increasing globalization has led to movement of people from distant places to other
places (Requena, Entrena- Durán & Solís, 2019). As per my takeaway, mass tourism creates
pressure on nation thereby affecting the local environment. It is responsible for the increasing
littering and pollution. Increased pollution leads to global warming, ocean warming as well as
acidification of the ocean water. The study clearly reflects that the coral reef is hampered to a
great extent. I can see that in most of the nations, tourism have a considerable share in the GDP
and it also plays a major role in employment. Recent globalization has also impacted my
company Reef Magic Cruises as the job security of most of the people is becoming questionable.
Increased pollution is resulting to coral bleaching (Donner, Tso & Rickbeil, 2018). Pollution and
degradation of the reefs reduces the footfall of the tourists every time. Thus, the profit of the

company is getting affected and people are losing jobs because of less turnover. Demographic
shifts because of globalization affects the tourism industry greatly (Dwyer & Čavlek, 2019).
Increasing human activities because of mass tourism degrade the balance of life of the regional
people and also make the environment unsustainable to live in.
These problems can be addressed properly only with the help of a strong and sustainable
management system. Ethical consideration and Corporate Social Responsibility is the key
solution to these problems (Mazur, 2018). My recent analysis shows that most of the business
often uses unethical means of transportation and accommodations that affects the environment
and impacts the regional balance. Social responsibility and business ethics will help in properly
dealing with any kind of accountability issues and consumer protection as well as help in
maintaining a sustainable business structure (O’Rourke & Koščak, 2019). Reef Magic Cruises
needs to adopt more eco friendly technologies and reduce pollution from its activities and
services. Activities like CSR can be taken up and social campaign can be setup. Advertisements
of such campaigns and activities need to be posted in the social media (Tuten & Solomon, 2017).
The company must take up green activities to reduce pollution and at the same time allow limited
tourists in each section. This will provide a two way benefit in a sustainable way.
