PERSONAL STATEMENT 2
After successfully completing my campus education I plan to take a one-year world
tour before coming back home to join the family business. I want to join the business at the
lowest entry level and hopefully rise through the ranks. The purpose is to use this as a
learning process so that when am at the helm of the business I can better manage and better
understand my employees. This is supposed to be a learning curve of the company is to
successfully compete in the global market. Learning by example and action is the best way to
have a handle of the family business by relating with the employees at a completely different
level.
The transition to adulthood will require young people to acquire a variety of skills,
skills that may be beyond the formal academic learning offered within the classroom. The
constructivist model states that the child appropriates the society. A child takes information
from the environment, organizes it, and constructs it mentally to help interpret the
environment. This helps the child in transition from one stage of life to the other(Patten
2016). The aim of the world tour is interacting with different culture other than the one we
are used to back home. The tour will also help identify new business opportunities.
Assimilating the new culture will involve observation and emulation of diverse cultures as I
travel throughout the world.
The promotion of motivation, goal setting, and self-advocacy can make a difference in
improving academic and transition outcomes for students transitioning from School to work
life. As an adult people, the individual must learn to embrace their abilities as malleable as
opposed to being static; as such, it becomes plainly easier for them to persevere the face of
adversity(Ryan & Deci 2017). The transition will be from school to world tour followed by
joining the family business. The employment requires me to report to work as early as eight
in the morning and leave the office at five. My motivation is the promise that in the near
future I will be at the helm of the company and would like to institute changes that will make

the business compete globally. As I rise through the ranks from the lowest rank, the aim is to
make it a learning process. This will help appreciate and better understand the company
culture as I prepare to one-day lead the family business. I intend to have a growth mind
approach taking each opportunity as a chance to learn something new in a practical
environment and an opportunity to apply what I have learnt in class in a more practical
environment.
I intend to use the following formula to better transition from one stage to the next;
1. Embrace challenges,
2. To persist despite obstacles,
3. See efforts as the path to success,
4. Learn from criticism
5. Learning to seek inspirations from other people success
After the world tour, I intend to settle down with my long-term girlfriend in line with
our culture where a young man who has come of age is expected to settle down with an aim
of starting a family. In as much as we have being in a long-term relationship, we have never
lived together as husband and wife and neither do we have children of our own. This is going
to be a challenge but just as I will tackle the school to work transition, I will employ the same
formula to transition from being single to being a married man.
