2.1 Aim/Problem Statement
There is more scope of growth and development for individuals who cleared their
graduation and want to settle down in life.. so I got an idea to launch new business in partnership
so there is complete information about working style which specifies the changes which are
taking place in external market (Bagula, Castelli and Zennaro, 2015). It is important to
understand external market, so I decided to become business development manger in hospitality
sector. With understanding and developing different development plan it is easy for individual to
analyse external market and then frame policies. For becoming business development manager
there is requirement of proper communication through which they can communicate their ideas
to society. It is essential to have to complete information about market when I want to expand in
market. I want to operate in hospitality sector so I must have complete information about demand
of consumers. As I analyse that these days, there is more trend for growth and development in
this sector because people prefers to avail services from different purpose as compared to older
market.
In order to access changes which are taking place in external market I used different
models and theories. I collected views from already existing business in England and Wales.
This makes me clear about issues as well which I can face while operating in industry. I am able
to understand what can be done through which I can get success in industry and perform business
operations in more effective and relevant manner. With taking information from external market,
I am able to understand what can be done to deal with these issues. I understand different issues
which affects performance of new organisation. There are different activities which has to be
considered if I want to understand what has to be done. In order to launch Monet Holiday Park, I
want to complete complete information regarding sources of finance, requirement of employees,
etc. in order to perform actions in better and effective manner (Garmehi and et. al., 2014 .
With making planning related to business, I am able to reduce possibilities of negative
outcome through which I get through market investigation. I am able to understand changes

which are specific and relevant in context of external market. I am able to work in team by
allotting proper roles and responsibilities which assist in dividing work under people. In this
report, I will show my experience while working and launching new business in industry. I am
able to perform business operations in better and effective manner because of change in external
market trends. I need to b e more dynamic in nature through which I can perform actions in
better and effective manner. There is improvement in my knowledge related to information
technology, market development, etc. I am able to improve my inter- personal skills, decision
making, conflict management, organising skills, problem solving techniques, etc. This assist me
to outshine in personal as well as professional norms.
By conducting this investigation, I am able to learn about different research
methodologies, tools and techniques, etc. This assist me to get complete information about skills
through which research can be done in better and appropriate manner. I analyse changes which is
relevant and significant in context of external market. So I am able to conduct project in effective
manner.
Section 3: Justification
I want to become business development manager because of change in external market
through which I can get more opportunities in industries. Apart from this I am able to decided
business ideas in better and effective manner (Ghosh and et. al., 2014). As there are many
changes in hospitality sector, so I am able to learn new and innovative style of working through
which I am able to work under dynamic environment. This assist me to work under dynamic
environment where individual have complete and relevant information about external market. In
order to become business development manager I must possesses good communication skills,
marketing skills through which I can access information from different sources. In order to
understand changes which are taking place in external market I am contacting with external
people through which I can best information. I have good negotiation skills, so being project
manager I can deal with external people because have complete information about market. In
order to operate in industry, I have to completely analyse what has to be done which is specific
and relevant in context of market.
I want to explore my career in getting complete information about market through which
I can diversify my business and achieve aims and objectives. This assist in understanding
external market and I will be competent for it. There is requirement of different legal bodies for

smooth running of business (Gupta, 2015). This assist in understanding changes which is
relevant in current market and I am able to understand trends which are happening in market. I
want to have command on business through which I can perform business activities in better and
effective manner. I can lead whole business by understanding market and performing operations
in better and relevant manner. I am good in problem solving, leadership, decision making, etc.
So I can organise whole team in better and appropriate manner. So I want to develop my career
in business development manager. I can communicate and solve queries of audience to whom I
will communicate about my business plan. In order to perform project in appropriate manner I
prefers to audit it. With the help of it I am able to get knowledge about difference in targets and
actual outcome. This assist me to rectify error at the spot and get better outcome.
It is important to achieve aims and objectives because I am not able to understand
changes which are happening in current market. I value my team mates equally and in case of
any issue to them I perform my activities in better and relevant manner. There are different legal
aspects which I have to follow if I want to run business in smooth way (Hashim, Ayinde and
Abido, 2016). There are different types of workers in organisation, so I prefers to work with
diversify individuals, so I can communicate them about changes in rituals of others. I am able to
perform business actions which are specific and signifiant in context of performance in
innovative and creative manner. There is use of different technology and new concept which is
significant for understanding market policies. I will analyse market and perform actions for
achieving competitive environment. With understanding market trends, there is requirement of
complete and relevant information which is specific in context of external market. I can convince
individuals to give best my providing them monetary or non monetary benefits.
Section 4: Methods
I have focused on choosing and selecting different methods for the completion of goals
within limited period of time. In this I have selected simulation method for finding appropriate
conclusion. The major motive behind selecting this method was to gain work based learning so
that my employability skills can be increased. With the help of this I was also able to gain better
and positive experience within limited period of time (Hinkkanen, and et. al., 2015). By selecting
this method chances of business simulation will be directly increased. As each and every task
will be managed by making use of 5 P of marketing strategy. This means with the help of this
strategy price, product, place and promotion strategies will be made as per the current situation

of the market. With the help of this my certain skills and knowledge will also be improved. As I
will be able to engage different stakeholders in the best possible manner. The major motive
behind selecting this method was to save unnecessary wastage of cost and time. By
implementing stimulation method chances of risk and uncertainty can also be reduced. Internal
as well as external environment of the guest house can be easily controlled by the me. As I will
be able to implement better techniques for gaining several advantages. Evaluation and analysis of
the technique will be done by me on the basis of standard and actual performance. Major
changes in the working structure can also be done. As these strategies will guide me in taking
effective decisions for the attainment of future goals and objectives. Competitive advantage can
be easily achieved by implementing stimulation method (Kalantari and et. al., 2017). My career
aspiration and goals will be effective achieved as this method generally ensures success and
growth.
Section 5: Timetable
Starting and launching new business is not one night process. There is requirement of
many proper planning and communication techniques through which it is easy to communicate
with each other. For making business plan I have to perform actions in better and effective
manner, this assist in understanding what can be done through which project can be launch
quickly with covering all the aspects. I use Gantt chart in order to understand how much time
will be required for different activities. There is requirement of workers, finance through which
individuals are able to understand what is relevant in context of external market. I hire different
individuals and assign them task as per their skills and characteristics. This is the best way
through which project task are completed in better manner. I set specific steps through which
individuals are able to how to complete project. With the help of Gantt chart I am able to fix
specific time for conducting different activities. Apart from this there is discussion about
synchronisation of activities (King and et. al., 2014).

Section 6: Evidence of accomplishment
There is requirement of some documents which assist in completing project within
specified time. With the help of different documents I am able to perform actions in specified
manner conducting operations as per requirement. I am able to complete my task by entering all
the data in legal books, so I am able to communicate with related parties. There is requirement of
different evidences to be shown at registrar offices such as contracts and other appendices,
project report, Skill grid build and other reports. With the help of it. Shareholders are sure that
project is done in ethical manner (Makkawi, Daher and Rizk, 2015). If there is any issue in
compiling of documents, then project may get face but if all the evidences are clear and
significant then possibilities of getting success in project are bright.

Background and context of project
Executive summary
The second task of project display the skill that I have acquired through placement design
and implementation that mean being a part of Monet guest house. There are specifically certain
skill which I acquired and enhanced during the whole programme that include conflict
management, persuasion skill, negotiation and problem solving. Additionally, most important the
whole exposure helped me to come up with innovative decision making in order to deal with real
life experiences to improve the working of Monet guest house as well as restaurant. Thus, with
the help of diversification and by recognising the existing requirement of customer helped the
Monet company to enhance the overall value of restaurant and operate the business successfully.
Introduction
Placement design is concerned with designing the business with the motive of achieving
goals and objectives in the best possible manner (Pham and et. al., 2017). The plans and
strategies for placement design is made after the analysis of marketing situation in the best
possible manner. It is very much essential for the business development manager to have certain
skills and capabilities for the achievement of goals and objectives. Placement design and
implementation is generally done with the motive of sustaining in the market for longer period of
time. With the help of this various new experiments can also be done for overall development of
the society in the best possible manner. The organisation chosen for this report is Monet guest

house and restaurant which was established by two individuals Penny Moore and Ben Andrews.
The guest house is located in Grays, London. It has 6 rooms, reception area and small lounge, so
that guest can relax and spend quality time. This report will majorly cover each and every aspect
related to the guest house. Different types of methods used by the individual for achieving the
goals along with its justification will also be covered in this report. Other important topics related
to this project are evidence for the accomplishment, literature review using certain models and
theories (Pfaff and et. al., 2015). With the help of this individual will be able to achieve goals
and objectives of each and every phase of project. Skills, capabilities and knowledge of the
individual will also be developed and enhanced within prescribed time period.
Demonstrate trans-disciplinary models /theories to underpin the analysis
To be the part of Monet Holiday park which is the part of hospitality industry I started
with selling the food items from food van and later on expand the business by owning guest
house or the restaurant. This whole cycle helped me to experience the importance of team and
how it helps to to achieved the share objective by facing the challenges successfully (McGrath
and et. al., 2016).
Tuckman's theory: It include four stages that start from when the team mates come
together to solve the critical situation till the accomplishment of project.
Forming: Within forming stage the team member from the various department come
together to fulfil the objective of project (Munir and et. al., 2016). Within Monet holiday park
the team mates become the part of this phase in order to undergo with the decision that are
related to expansion of business.
Storming: Within this stage the team mates know each other and every put their views
forward that may lead to internal conflict or chaos. So herein Monet holiday park the role of
leader is to sort out the things and guide the member to toward the objective.
Norming: This is positive stage for the members of respected company as the conflict are
resolves and everyone take initiative to motivate and appreciate the view of each other. So
member socialise with each other that lead to strong commitment (Poulose and et. al., 2016).
Performing:All roles and responsibility are assigned to the member on the basis of the
capability of teammates. This is the transition stage because everyone work to accomplish the
objective. Moreover, once purpose is achieved the group gets dissolved due to which this is
emotional stage for the team member of Monet company.

Thus, the whole process helped me to enhance my interpersonal skills in order to achieve
the result and encourage the member to communicate and support each other for the better flow
of information. Thus, Steven Covey's theory assist to maintain the better understand among the
team member for effective result achievement (Ravi and et. al., 2016).
Steven Convey's theory: It include the development of intrinsic values within team
members which include following elements that are discussed below:

As per personal development process where in the Monet company we were exposed to
various threats as well as opportunity. Initially, it was tough to be the part of business and start
from scratch that is by selling the burger and sandwich by food van and carry out the various task
of business (Zellner and et. al., 2016). Thus, this whole project involve various stages that is
defined below:
Preparation: My preparation was to research the market and enhance my competencies
so that I can easily face the challenges and sustain by business in dynamic environment. With the
help of Work breakdown structure I divided my task and recruit the suitable workforce for
Monet company and made them explain the whole scenario effectively. Therefore, this process
leads to the better division of work which helps in proper functioning of overall organisation.
Planning: Within planning process I conduct the session with the employee where we
together plan out the whole functioning of the business. At this stage I led the whole group to
forecast the future on the basis of planning and evaluate the most desirable option to achieve the
objective of business (Teman and et. al., 2015). Additionally, for the better functioning Monet
holiday park employees prioritise their all roles and responsibility to develop the restaurant
within the main city.

Decision making: As I believe in innovation thinking so we adopted Participative
decision making. This exercise lead to the innovative thinking even the employee considered
them as an essential part of an organisation (Zellner and et. al., 2016). Hence, it include
brainstorming method that helped the workforce to gain better clarity of task amongst the work
force.
To discuss the skills that has been developed in order to solve the problem
Negotiation skill: In order to expand the business and close the restaurant unit in the
countryside I enhanced my negotiation skill. Like, I developed win win situation for the
employee as well by giving them higher remuneration and making other understand regarding
the importance of diversification within Monet company.
Time management skill: For the accomplishment of task it is significant that the Monet
organisation accomplish their task within stipulated time frame. So I drafted the priority list that
consist of various task ranked on the basis of urgency or importance of each and every task. This
helped me as well as the team member to have better knowledge of task that leads to
achievement of target by minimising the unnecessary cost and time (Teman and et. al., 2015).
Problem solving skill: As it is essential for the betterment of Monet company to handle
critical situation or the hurdle instead of wasting the timing on other stuff. Moreover,
communication helps the business to resolve the issue by coming up with innovative solution so
I and my team mates used to remain connected with the various electronic devices. As it is not
feasible for everyone to remain attentive every time due to which with the help of video
conferences, telephones we discussed about the action that need to be taken by the organisation
for easy accomplishment of task (Russell, Fleming and Aphale, 2015).
Conflict resolution: It is crucial for the business to manage the workforce of an
organisation and build the effective team for the smooth functioning of business. In order to
overcome the situation of internal dispute and conflict the team mates are motivated on the
continuous basis so that they realise the importance of each other and replace the competition
with cooperation in order to achieve the objective of business effectively. Along with that I made
sure that different department of Monet company does not depend upon the same resources
because this creates confusion or negative polities that may lead to poor management. Thus, even
after taking such precaution if the conflict arises within the team mates then with the help of
discussion all the misunderstanding are sort out amongst the employer as well as employee.

To analyse and evaluate the action which are not taken
Lack of extrinsic motivation: Extrinsic motivation act as a push factor where the efforts
of the member are encourages so that they perform all the role and responsibility to putting the
additional effort (Ravi and et. al., 2016). Although I used to communicate with the team
members regularly regarding their task which obviously make them more clear with their
responsibility. Perhaps I lack in displaying the qualitative figures of achievement and using
various session to boost up their skills for the diversification of restaurant in Monet company.
Critical Reflection:
This whole exercise helped me to enhance my skills and excel in various areas in order to
remain competitive. I spend my time to enhance my qualities and excel in areas by taking the
significant action required for innovative decision making. Moreover, I spend quality time with
my team mates that lead to develop interpersonal relationship and helped me to perform the task
within stipulated time period.
Leadership style
My leadership style was more relationship oriented where I and my group member
develop suitable bond and understand the need of each. As per my opinion employee is the main
asset of company so I find it essential to make them participate in the decision making and share
their opinion as well which lead to engaging the effort of employee in order to cope up with
competition.
Learning from the project given by a portfolio evidence.
In this major focus is emphasised on taking effective decisions so that activities can be
completed in proper structure and process (Poulose and et. al., 2016). With the help of reflective
ability I was able to analyse my different activities in the systematic manner. This means I will
be able to know my weak and strong points in the strategies implemented. Skills and capabilities
was also critically evaluated for the enhancement of ideologies and paradigm. My certain habits
and belief related to the activities and strategies of business was reformed in the positive manner.
I have able to choose and select appropriate leadership style. I focused on using the combination
of transformational, democratic as well as autocratic leadership style. This is very much
essential for me because by doing this I was able to lead and guide other individuals in the best
possible manner. This has also helped me in motivating the employees for the achievement of
goals and target in the efficient manner. I was also able to work effectively with each and every

team member. As chances of conflicts and disputes was reduced. For this I focused on
implementing Tuckman model. It covered the stages of forming, storming, norming, performing

efficiently. Implementation of the strategies was done on the basis of current demand of
situation. This has reduced the chances of negativty and lack of coordination.
CONCLUSION
From the above given report it has been concluded that if plans and strategies for the
placement design and implementation is made after analysing the current and past situation than
goals and objectives can be easily achieved. Skills and capabilities of the individual can be
improved by using several models and theories. As these will guide in reducing the chances of
mismanagement. Plans and strategies can also be as per the actual need and preferences of
current situation in the market. By the literature review method organisation will be able to
achieve competitive advantage within limited period of time.
