Businesses evolve in order to improve their productivity and increase their capability to
generate more revenues and profits. Businesses evolve by recruiting new and better
employees and by upgrading their existing machinery and equipments. Advancements in
technology have allowed businesses to expand their operations globally. This change and
evolution of businesses are influenced by business environmental factors. Every business
organisation has their own business environment that affects their operations and
profitability. This business environment can be divided into two segments - micro or internal
environment and macro or external environment (Prajogo, 2016). Along with these factors,
the rules and regulations of a company also affect their operations. Every company follows
ethical business practices and maintain corporate social responsibility to make sure all their
operations are running smoothly and to maintain a fair work environment for the employees.
This essay will explain how the factors of the business environment influence the operations
of the business and the importance of maintaining business ethics and corporate social
responsibility (CSR).

Business environment constitutes all the factors that have the capability to affect the
operations of the business. The business environment is classified under two categories -
microenvironment and macro environment.
Microenvironment is referred to the internal environment of the business. These factors can
be controlled by the business organisation. A few micro environmental factors are elaborated
below. Their competitors influence all companies. Businesses keep track of the operations of
their competitors in order analyse and identify their strategies so that they can make their own
counter-strategies in order to gain the advantage. This will help the business to gain a
competitive edge in the market (Hamilton and Webster, 2018). All businesses conduct their
business operations with the purpose of selling their products and services to the consumers
in order to gain income and profits. The companies make sure that their products are aligned
with the market trends and the demands of the consumers. Doing so will maximise their
potential of their products being bought by the consumers, effectively increasing sales.
Businesses need to make sure that their suppliers supply in time and in the right quantity their
raw materials. A good relationship with the suppliers might provide the company discounts

level of society, consumer buying habits, and many more all impact the marketing strategies
