BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT: A REFLECTIVE ASSESSMENT
This assignment focuses on my self-experience towards this course Business Environment.
In this regard, I have explained the entire situation faced during my past professional career
and in the context of how I have influenced to choose this course for future perspective.
Along with this, this assessment would reflect the future goals with regard to this course,
which would help me in future professional career.
Defining the business, it is a group of activities run and operated by an organisation, a person,
partnership firms, or group persons, where goods and services are exchanged in terms of
money (Calabrese et al. 2018). In a business, both buyer and seller are required. In this case, I
would like to add that in business a manufacturer or producer can be seller, but a seller may
not be a manufacturer or producer. In earlier time, business was held in form of barter
transaction. However, by time changed, we can see money has come to complete a
transaction in business. In short, I will say in business one party must sell something and
other party must purchase something; otherwise, the business would not run.

I was a team leader of a customer care executive team in my previous profession. Therefore,
my job was to communicate with customers to know their perceived demand. I had to submit
the collected report to marketing department for further decision making. In that case, we had
to maintain a smooth environment of work, so that no communication barrier can exist. In the
words of Ayios (2018), communication barrier can create a hazardous situation in workplace
and that disrupt the business environment. Therefore, every employee in my previous work
place had to run through a training program on business environment maintenance. This was
the reason behind choosing this course.
Here I will be discussing my experience. As I mentioned that my job role was a customer
care executive and had to communicate with customers regarding their experience and
satisfaction level, that working experience helped me to work in a cross cultural situation.
Nevertheless, the customers were from different religion and that is why moral values or
ethics were different. Same thing was in the work place also. Working in a cross-cultural
environment gave me a great experience in dealing with different situations. Somewhere, we
had to take decisions in critical situations, where communication with seniors was not
possible. However, those decisions were temporary in few cases to just tackle the situation
and getting the work done.
Coming to point 4, working in a multi-cultural situation made me self-dependent in critical
situations. That experience made me a little experienced that I could manage the business
environment workable to some extent. In this regard, I would like to add the writings of
Hamilton & Webster (2018), where they mentioned that each employee in a workplace
should be competent enough to control a critical situation; otherwise, the managerial quality
lying within them might not come out. This experience of managing business environment
and maintaining the workplace influenced me towards this course. On the other hand, the
leadership process in my experience will be related somehow with present course.
Talking about the required result from my chosen course, I can say that would reflect with
my result of exam and in my future professionalism. My work experience was a practical
scenario, which I faced, and what I would learn that would be my theoretical knowledge.
Here, I might get more knowledge regarding business environment. Along with this, I will
definitely learn different leadership models like autocratic style, authoritative style, and
participative style etcetera. As per my work experience, I strongly believe in participative
style, because there every team member participate and put their effort in decision making, so

chance of getting better result increases. Hansen et al. (2018) stated that participative
leadership style creates more leaders in a workplace and that increases the workforce level of
each employee.
During my study I might get some assignments with problems related to business
environment and leadership quality; here, I will recall my past experience to resolve the issue.
Along with this, my present study knowledge will put more ways for better result. The
combination of practical and theoretical knowledge would have a good conclusion on my
study that I believe. Nevertheless, I would focus on getting more knowledge of business
environment and leadership. This will definitely have a good manage and monitor to my
studies to a successful conclusion.
Throughout my course, I might get more knowledge regarding business environment. Along
with this, I will definitely learn different leadership models like autocratic style, authoritative
style, and participative style etcetera. Along with this, more knowledge can be gathered about
business environment. In future, I will definitely join in same area; there I will implement all
my pre3vious practical knowledge and present theoretical knowledge. This is how I will
apply studies in future. Moreover, this knowledge might help me in personal life. In personal
life, I may not be able talk or train leadership styles, but I can use the knowledge in general
way so that people can understand easily.
In this case, my future goal will be, understanding and keeping in mind all the learning that I
will have with this course, because I can never use books for situations; in professional
career, I will implement both practical and theoretical knowledge; during this I can easily
compare the differences between practical and theoretical knowledge, is it exist. As a long-
term goal, I will try to emerge the best leadership quality with my personality and I will
develop that by my own.
The overall study has stated my previous work experience and in context of how I related that
with my current course. This study would reflect my interest level towards this course clearly.
