The below essay explores the business environment and the changes which impact it. The
report explores the impact of external world on the decision making of a business. The chosen
organisation for the essay is Tesco. It is a British Multinational groceries and general
merchandise retailer headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom (Seinfeld and
Pandis, 2016). The report further explores individual career planning and the decisions made in
order to achieve growth and success in that particular field of career.
MAIN BODY
Question 3: Green agenda and Business environment
Today, it can be seen as the businesses across the world are facing large issues in
greening their operations because of the issues of climate change and global warming. These are
one of the major issues being faced by the world. Global warming is increasing because of the
large usage of crude oil, pollution, and carelessness of the people across the world. This is
causing a rise in temperatures, and making people suffer. In order to solve the issue the Paris
Climate Agreement, 2016 was brought into practice by the government of France. In order to
ensure a better and sustainable environment practice countries across the world had to agree on
the terms being set in order to achieve sustainable practices and greening the environment.
Companies such as United Kingdom agreed on the Paris Climate Agreement, 2016 in
order to achieve and ensure better sustainability. Tesco is one of the largest organisations
thriving into the business environment of United Kingdom. The company and its services are
impacted on a wide range after the agreement was brought into practice. Such as the organisation
has to take effective measures in order to maintain sustainability in its manufactured products
and services. For example, after the implication of Paris Climate agreement, the organisation
immediately banned its usage of plastic in large quantities (Edenhofer, 2015). It also started
maintaining greenery around the organisational environment and started making use of services
which can ensure the practices of sustainability and green environment. Below mentioned are the
ways in which Tesco 's business is effected by Climate Change:ï‚· Capital Expenditures Required for Emission Controls Systems: Tesco has to consider
installing emission control systems in order to control pollution. It is important for the
company to deal with emissions which they are leaving in the environment because these
emissions are the only reasons making the environment suffer from air pollution and

making the oxygen toxic. Along with it, the emissions which Tesco leaves in the
environment impacts the health of the people living in the surrounding areas as well.
These expenditures are costing a lot to the organisation because Tesco is having its
manufacturing plants all across the United Kingdom. Setting up emission control systems
at all of its plants is proving very expensive for the company. Along with it, the
organisation has to bring new workforce and effective controlling procedures into
practice in order to ensure the proper working of these emissions control systems.
ï‚· Changing prices of goods and services: Organisations have to suffer from changing
prices of good and services from the issue of Climate Change. For example, when a
company such as Tesco do not produce much pollution may be indirectly affected by
climate change laws since their suppliers and/or customers may be affected. This creates
a change in prices of the goods and services produced or manufactured by the
organisation (Crate and Nuttall, 2016). It is important that the organisation evaluates the
necessary prices of the products and services which are being brought from the suppliers
and manufacturers. It is going to help the organisation to understand in what manner they
should bargain from these customers and suppliers in order to ensure better growth and
advantage. It is important that the organisation develops its products and services
according to the sustainable demands and set climate needs. These efforts can reduce the
impact which Tesco is facing in order to achieve set growth and profitability.
The above factors explain in what ways the Tesco's products and services are being
impacted by the climate change. Other major ways in which climate change in impacting the
organisation's includes potential domestic cap and trade legislation, changing weather patterns,
changing demands of goods and services, the obligations under the Kyoto Protocol, or the
European Union Emission Trading Scheme along with other foreign regulations, changing public
perceptions of the firms, etc.

marketing industry. The reason behind choosing this path of career is that it helps to
