INTRODUCTION
Business is a human activities that is carried out by the unified efforts of various
categories of members in order to produce the profit through production and distribution of
goods and services. In order to run business effectively it is very crucial to have good business
environment. Business environment refers to those aspects of surrounding of business
enterprise that directly or indirectly effect and influence its operations and determine its
effectiveness. The main objectives of business environment is to be aware about the current
environment of the business to change accordingly. It also enables to know about the
organisation competitors, suppliers and customers to have appropriate decisions to run
business. Business environment helps in making good business policies and overall scanning of
the business. This report mainly emphasis on the audit of personal fitness for business
environment. Being as a manager of Five Field Restaurant, it is mandatory for me to have good
knowledge, abilities and skills to make further planning for improving business environment.
Personal Reflection
Being Manager at Five Field Restaurant it is my responsibility to analyse the my key
capabilities and skills to function in both in academic and business contexts. Moreover, it is my
duty to find out my competent skills, strengths and weakness in order to develop and
implement proper efforts to maintain good business environment to achieve restaurant goals
and objectives without any unwanted hindrance. To evaluate my capabilities and skills I have
considered some elements which includes team working skills, numeracy skills, problem solving
skills and time management. To analysis my potential I have undergone personal skill audit to
find out my strength ans weaknesses.
Personal skills audit enables an individual to determine own strengths and weakness in
effective manner. Through this process, I am able to identify those fields in which I need
improvement to take proper decision for maintaining good business environment. Through
personal skills audits I am able to access my performance by conducting different roles and
responsibilities in effective manner. In context to my abilities as Manager at Five Field
Restaurant, I require to evaluate my own skills and knowledge that is related to team working
skills, problem solving skills, time management skills and numeracy skills.

As per as the requirement for performing such roles and responsibilities to improve
business environment, I have prepared a business plan for determining my own personal
strength and weakness as well as process through which abilities of mine can be modified. It
will help me in gaining opportunities through which I can enhance my skills and capabilities to
take better decision in maintaining good business environment.

2 Numeracy skills 4 5 Numeracy skills plays important role in
accessing, interpret and communicate
mathematical information to engage in
and manage the mathematical
demands. In restaurant it is crucial for
me to have good numeracy skills so that
orders ordered by the customers can
easily managed. As a manager at Five
Field Restaurant it is my duty to
enhance my numeracy skills to maintain
appropriate balance of orders that are
placed by customers. In the category of
numeracy skills I scored myself 4 out of
5 as I am quite good in handling the
orders in right quality and quantity due
to which customers are highly satisfied
with my performance.

4 5 Time management refers to the most
essential skills that helps a person in
conducting various tasks in given period
of time. In this regard, I am quite
effective in getting right work of
employees within short period of
interval. For this process, I used to
provide proper guidance to people
related to roles and responsibilities so

error in given time. I scored myself 4 out
of 5 for time management as I am quite
good in managing time for different
tasks at the restaurant .But I will take
some session for developing time
managerial skills then it will help me in
conducting functions more quick.
4 Problem solving 2 5 As restaurant has different types of
employees for different job roles which
includes chefs, cooks, dishwashers,
hosting staff. Due various job profile
there ate many conflicts arises among
the employees. Therefore, occurrence
of conflicts and other issues among
them on daily basis is natural. In this
regard, to deal with them and solve
their issues on time, generate feeling of
anger or frustration in me. I have
behave sometimes in unethical manner
which creates negativity at workplace.
So, to overcome from this situation, I
need to attend some sessions which
guide me how to resolve issues of
workers in quick manner without being
partial. I have scored myself 2 out of 5,
as I become frustrated sometimes in
managing problems among the
employees.

Strengths : As per as above personal skill audit, it is evaluated that being manager at
Five Field Restaurant I am quite well in numeracy skills along with proper time management. I
am good in managing the orders placed by customers and provides services without any delay. I
am able to manage time well among various employees. It gives me opportunities to handle
time management for different department in order to maintain good business environment.
Weakness: According to analysis, it has been observed that I am too weak in problem
solving. Sometimes while sorting out some issues I behave in ethical manner which is not at all
good for effective business environment. Along with this, in making effective interaction with
employees of different culture also comes as barrier in influencing employees to follow policies
of business. I need to work more on my problem solving skills so that I can contribute to
maintain effective business environment at workplace to achieve competitive advantages.
Kolb learning cycle
Kolb's learning cycle was proposed by David A. Kolb. It works on two levels that includes
four stage cycle of learning and four separate learning styles. Kolb's theory is concerned with
holistic perspective that includes experience, perception and behaviour. The Kolb's learning
cycle is explained in detail below:
Concrete Experience: This step of Kolb's learning skills are concerned with learning
process through experience. This includes management games and role playing. The learner
learn from and with other people and value discussion. In context with myself as a manager at
Five Field restaurant, I have learned a lot from my subordinates by doing valuable discussion.
Reflective Observers: This is second step of Kolb's learning skill in which learning of an
individual is totally based on reflection. They like to look at things carefully from variety of
perspectives. Learners enjoy lectures and objective tests where knowledge is demonstrated. In
context with me, I have undergone various lectures and objective tests to evaluate my skills and
capabilities which includes numeracy skills,problem solving skills,time management, team
working skills etc.
Abstract Conceptualizes: This is third step, that is totally based on logics and systematic
method adapted by the individual learner. The learners believes in appreciating deductive
thinking based on their own careful understanding. In context with myself to I have learned a

Active Experimenters: This is fourth step of Kolb's learning skills, in which learning of
the individual is through doing. The individual likes to practices new things through practising
and trying new things. The learn are not afraid of taking risks and are known for getting things
done. In context to myself as a manager of Five Field Restaurant, I have practised and tried new
things to maintain the business environment.
CONCLUSION
In order to run business effectively it is very crucial to have good business
environment. Business environment refers to those aspects of surrounding of business
enterprise that directly or indirectly effect and influence its operations and determine its
effectiveness. In order to maintain good business environment I am working of my weakness
that is problem solving issues.
