INTRODUCTION
Business environment is the main practices which involves various factors that are used
in business managing and organise the activities effectively. This is important for business
environment to maintain all functions and activities in a synchronised form and increase the
organisational productivity. In business environment various factors are exist which have
undertaken the place and affecting businesses (Wyness and Dalton, 2018). To understand about
business environment and its structure Royal mail Group Plc has been taken that is postal
services and courier company in the United Kingdom. This organisation was established in 1516
by operates the brand Royal mail and Parcel force Worldwide. This report is categorised in two
task which helps to increase the learning and skills. The first task covers tools to evaluate the
business environment and management practices within workplace that impacts on performance.
On the other side, task 2 covers personal development that expects to achieve from the work
environment and professional development in relation to work environment.

Business environment is considered as collection of individuals, entities and others factors
which has heavy impacts on business and helps to take the right decisions. The managers of each
and every organisation need to analysis the environment that states how such environment has
affected the business. If once business concern has analysed the environment then it can sustain
in competitive environment. Royal mail is large size organisation that is running their business
by evaluating environment effectively. The manager of such organisation are playing important
role as they visit the market uses promotional channel in order to aware people regarding their
products and services (King and Henderson, 2018). Business environment is consist of two
environmental factors such as external and internal which are important to analyse. Different
tools are used by management to analysis the environment that is defined below-
PESTLE analysis – This is tool which is used by all organisation at the time of running
their business. This factor states that which factor can impacts on their business and how it can
increase their productivity and profitability. This is important for organisation to focus on such

factors and get to how these are affecting business. So, PESTLE analysis is done by management
of Royal mail that is defined below:
Political factor – : This took into account issues such as the political state of a country,
labour law and job regulations, etc. which have a direct effect on company operations. Every
organisation is required to follow the political system in which they are running their business
that supports to increases their activities and performance. The positive impacts is to secure
political circumstances in the United Kingdom allow the management in Royal mail the ability to
set out clear plans for the success of Royal mail. They all are following taxation rate. Political
system and others regulation which can helps to increase business activities by setting goals. At
the same time, a disruptive change in trade rules and tariff hikes as a result of the BREXIT
referendum contributed to a decrease in revenue for Royal mail company that can bound to
increase their business in other nations.
Economical factor- It covers factors such as interest rate, inflation rate, GDP, population
growth, people's disposable income, etc. The good economic dynamics in the UK offer Royal
Mail Company regarding ability to make use of the outstanding infrastructure, transport and
communications network by delivering mails and courier. The weakness of such factor is
incremental in inflation as a result of BREXIT presents a major challenge to the viability of
Royal mail within the boundaries of the United Kingdom.
Social factor- This comprises of customer habits, behaviours, perceptions, etc. that have
an effect on the demand for corporate products on the marketplace. The changing expectations
and desires of customers have a positive impact on Royal mails it allows a company to deliver
mails and couriers that will satisfy certain customer requirements. Shifts in market patterns have
a negative effect on chosen company because rival companies expect these shifts in customer
behaviour before the respective company (Tohir and Abidin, 2018).
Technological factor – It is the technical advancement and automation that has been
achieved with the passing of time. The technically developed United Kingdom has a strong
impact on Royal mail to come up with new delivery services in less time that have the potential
to dominate the market. With the help of this, managers bring new technology and process of
deliver the couriers. The negative impacts is new invention is expected and adopted by a
competitor before Royal mails, that will have a significant influence on the firm in terms of the
replacement effect.

Legal factor – This factor is related laws and legislation which are important to follow.
Royal mail is large size organisation where number of employees are working is required to all
laws such as employment ‘laws, minimum wages, data protection etc. that encourages employees
to work effectively and increase the organisational productivity (Ayyildiz and Tarhan, 2018) .
Environmental factor - It is considered as environmental legislation that the company
must meet with in order to achieve long-term viability in the industry. Royal mails uses eco
sustainable activities. This allows the least leakage of fossil emissions, thus working in the
benefit of humanity to result in beneficial results. In case of not following, environment rules and
increasing wastages can reduce the organisational productivity.
SWOT analysis – This tool is used to evaluate the business environment that helps
organisation to run their business by knowing strength and weakness. This helps to improve the
organisational productivity and profitability. Royal Mail is using SWOT analysis which helps to

well-being of people and managing the business activities. It is important that managers should
be skilled, responsible and knowledgeable and experience who can handle the problems and give
their suggestions to improve the organisational productivity. In context to Royal mail, managers
are performing their business activities by using best management practices that are as defined:
Communication – This is important management style which is used by organisation and
employees in order to share their ideas and thoughts which helps to bring the changes
accordingly and maintain the business performance. In other words, communication is all about
communicating to the staff and clients that helps to increase the business activities. The
managers of Royal mail are maintaining successful communication that helps to increase the
organisational productivity and profitability (Best management practices, 2020).

needs and wants which helps to boost their morale by filling their needs. It has defined that a
person has different needs which are as defined by using Maslow theory such as Physiological
needs that covers food, drink, sex and sleep that satisfied customers. Second needs is safety and
security that is related to personal development, love and belonging that can satisfying their
customers which helps improve the organisational productivity. The next need involves self-
esteem and self-actualisation which fill needs of a person and provide them satisfaction.

Create growth plans – As to grow the personal development, there is require to create
the growth plans which can help to maintain their position. In this, a person should develop plans
and identify their skills and ability that can helps to complete the ceratin task with energy and
passion (Chen, Ma and Xiao 2018).
Think beyond formal training – To increase the personal development there is need to
think people beyond formal training which can help to increase their learning (Expects of
personal development, 2020).
Provide mentor – This is another expectation that a person should have mentor who can
help to provide a right path and ways to work and maintaining clean work environment.
Training on developing soft skills – A person should also focus on their training and
developing of soft skills which helps to solve the problems and retain them in working
environment continuously.
Ask to self what they wants and take right action – This is another important expect
which states a person should know that want it wants and how it can be grow its skills and
capabilities which helps to improve their effectiveness (Expects of personal development, 2020).
2.2 Professional development that you expect to achieve from the work environment in
which you are placed.
Professional development is the activities which is gain by a person through increasing
learning to earn and maintaining professional credentials. In other words, this involves academic
degrees, attending conference, informal learning, that are used or practised in organisation by
working. this is important for organisation to have good professional skills and degree which are
used to to improve the organisational productivity.
Communication skills – This is important skills which is require in professional
development that helps to communicate between people and attracts them effectively.
Analytical and research – A person should have analytical and research which helps to improve
the professional skills which helps to improve the self and organisational productivity. In this,
people is require to conduct research and analyse the business environment which helps to
maintain the good productivity and profitability. This is important for organisation to focus on
their professional skills which helps to face the challenges and improve business activities.

Flexibility and adaptability – This is another skills or expectation which uses to
improve the organisational profitability and own selves which maintain and organise activities.
In this, a person should be flexible and adaptability by accepting challenges and managing

Coordination skills – This is also important professional expectation which is important
that consider coordination which helps to share the thoughts and ideas which uses to improve the
their skills and influence people so goals and objectives can be attain in effective time period. in
organisation, management is required to coordinate with their employees which helps to work
and accordingly and maintain the organisational performance.
Able to accept challenges and solve problems- In professional development a person
should have learning about how to accept the challenges and get solution of their problems. On
the other side, management and leadership are important process which should be used by
management while working and maintaining a clean environment effectively.

From the above report it can be business environment is the important factor which
consist internal and external environment. It is important for person to analyse and evaluate the
business environment so business activities can be performed and maintain effectively. To
evaluate the environment PESTLE and SWOT analysis should be used by management which
states how factors has impacted on business and maintain the business activities. on the other
side, personal and professional development are two main development process which should
have in a person and helps to attain the business goals. In personal development there is
requirement to identify own needs and wants then make plans which improves organisational
productivity.
