If you were in Snowden’s position, what would you have done and why?
Edward Snowden was a computer expert and former cis system administrator that has
been exposed government documents in press which is consist of existence of government
surveillance programs. If I would be in the position of Snowden I will also prefer to expose
these confidential documentation to public because this is my duty and responsibility to inform
general public that what is being done on their name and what has been done against
them(Crane, and. et. al.,2019). As per the act of freedom of information to citizen, this has been
promote transparency and accountability in the working of government, contains corruption and
provides support in to make democracy working in real sense for general people. This is one of
the biggest step which has been stated and provides right to general public to keep informed
about the activities of government. Thus, on the basis of this act would also take the step to
expose those confidential documents as they have right to remain informed about the
government surveillance program.
I would take this step which is against the law but it has been taken to follow another law
which is more important according to me. As this act is for sense of public good, and this need to
be done for the democracy of people. Moreover there are another legal channel that can be

utilised for informing public, but both have same results as which has going to obtained in end in
which citizen will know about government surveillance programme. Thus, informing public is
necessary as they have right to know about such activities.
Would you change your position if you knew that Snowden’s leak would lead to a loss of life
among CIA operatives? What about if it would save lives?
As Edward Snowden has broke the law as per the espionage act of 1917 which has been
stated that obtaining information, recording picture or copying description of any information
which is related to national defence has been prohibited as to believe that information can be
used for injury of US or to advantage to other nations. As per this law he has commit a crime but
along with this he did a great service to the country(Werhane, P.H., 2019). If it leads to the loss
of life among CIA operative or act as harmful for US then I would change my position as I will
not going to take such step which is harmful for the my nation. In this government have could
build more effective security along with this he has to be punish through which it provides better
enforce to the criminal laws of the united stated so that no one can take this step in future,
moreover if he could save lives with his act the it will be the hero of this story and stand as
examples in front of citizen to take such steps for nation that could save live and protect country
with harmful and violating act.
