Introduction
Business is an activity which produces and sell goods and services in respect of earning
profit. In an Organisation there are various sub departments which helps in increasing the growth
and profit (Sanasi et. al., 2019). These Sub departments are known by the name Functional areas
of Business. The departments are Human resource, marketing, finance, IT department, Customer
Service, Production department, Operations, Distributions, Sales and various other department.
These departments Collectively work together for achieving the goals and objectives of
Company. The report is based on the person who have no understanding and knowledge of
running the business smoothly. He had purchased a company IOM Electronic Ltd with the
money won by lottery. The company is well known organisation with 200 staff which is based
on two sites Manchester and Liverpool. This report provides an overview of Various Functional
areas in Business organisation and skills able to requires in employees for accomplishing the
work effectively in these Functional areas.
Various Functional Areas
In Every Business there are various Functions or tasks which is to be performed on
regular basis. The purpose of Functional areas is to make sure that all the activities of
organisation is carried out efficiently and effective way. There main aim is to achieve the goals
and objectives of the company. They are Explained below-
Human Resource
Human Resource is one of the important assets of any organisation. Human resource
department main role is to manage the employees, compensate them and provide training for
improving their skills and knowledge. It can be said that they are the Central pillar of Companies
(McClean and Collins, 2019). The Functions of Human resource department are Staffing,
Development, compensating, Employee and Labour Relations, safety and health, etc. HR
department is responsible to recruit the right candidate for the vacant job position. They organise
effective training programs for employees so that their skills get enhanced and can achieve
organisational goals efficiently. They maintain the records of employees so that they can identify
the skill gaps. HR Department interpret and enforce the labour laws such as working hours, equal
employment opportunities, benefits and wages and various other laws. With the help of HR
department John can identify the right candidates for working in IOM Electronic Ltd.

Marketing department helps in promoting business and increase the sale of products or
services. They create various marketing strategies for the growth of company and plan for
promotional campaign to boost the sale (Gesualdi, 2019). The Marketing department of IOM
Electronic Ltd helps in promoting activities through which their products and Brand get
recognised to audience. They understand the target market and the competitors of IOM
Electronic Ltd. Marketing department makes a strategy to increase the profitability and growth of
Company. The functions of Marketing includes how the products will be delivered, promoting
goods and developing a pricing strategy through which they can remain competitive and Capture
the market.
Customer Service Supporting
Customer service supporting is one of the functional area of business in which they
interact with the customers and sort out their issues, problems, complaints, inquires and orders.
For any business it is important to maintain a strong relationship with customers as the growth of
organisation is in the hand of Customers only (Ye, Lyu and He, 2019). So it is important to
provide best services with better quality of products it helps in increasing the loyalty among
customers. This department includes reception, Help desk or contact centres through which
customers can get the solution of their problems and orders. In IOM Electronic Ltd there must be
Customer centre support department which helps in handling the issue and taking orders of
Electronic appliances.
Sales
Sales Department plays an important role in the success of organisation. They are
responsible for generating the sales in company. Sales Department identify, research and Contact
the leads for the development of Business (Gorji and Siami, 2020). The key persons in Sales
department are Sales Development Representative, Account Executive, Sales Specialists and
Sales Manager. They all work together for achieving the goals and objectives of organisation
with efficient and effective manner. The Sales Department in IOM Electronic Ltd helps in
increasing the sales of company and makes them profitable by building a strong connection with
Customers.

Organisation. There main duty is to plan for the Finance, investment, cash management,
Corporate Finance, short term and Long term Business Strategy, auditing and various other
duties. The Role of Accounting and Finance department is to focus on the financial issues and
management. This department is responsible to handle the Financial transaction of organisation
from owners, Customers, internal and external parties, etc. They produce the Financial

Creativity skills helps employees to get reward by their ideas and creativity. The Staff members
of IOM Electronic Ltd should have creativity skills through which they can generate more sales
by their attractive and innovative ideas.
Interpersonal skills
Interpersonal skills is an ability of a person to interact with customers more effectively.
The employees should have Strong Interpersonal skills as it is a key indicator for the success of
Organisation. There are various benefits of Interpersonal skills such as gaining popularity,
solving difficult problems and cooperate with other teammates (Pagnoccolo and Bertone, 2021).
The examples of Interpersonal skills are Emotional Intelligence, Reliability, Leadership,
positivity, Negotiation, Openness to Feedback, etc. In IOM Electronic Ltd the workers must have
an ability to indulge the customers for buying product it can be done by maintaining healthy
relationship with them. The Employees must have a negotiation skill so that they can interact
with peoples and make them engage in a discussion for buying the product of IOM Electronic
Ltd.
Conflict Solving Skills
The employees must have an ability to solve the conflicts rather than being a part of
disputes and make fun of the issues. The workers who resolve conflict and address the disputes
maturely are considered as good employees. In organisation there must be peace so that all the
staff members can work efficiently and effectively (Katz et. al., 2020). There must be an
good employees (Puccio et. al., 2020). In IOM Electronic Ltd the employees must have a skill to
