Introduction
To run the business there are different type of functions which are run by the owner in
order to carried out the basic objectives. They can divide the core and operational functions of
the business organisation (Boyle, 2016). The discussion is for the local company IOM electronic
Ltd. A well known regional organisation with having 400 staff and two main sites in Manchester
and Liverpool. This report include the different functional areas in different business
organisation which are needed by the owner to implement business strategies in right way.
Further it will include different type of skills which are needed by employees in order to work
effectively in the discussed functional area.
1. What is business
A business is an organisation or an entity which is engaged in the commercial, charitable
and professional and industrial activities. It can be related to profitable and not-for profit
organisation. Further they have or not have any separate identity, from the people controlling the
business (What Is Business? – Definition, Concept & Types, 2021). A business has a conceptual
idea in order to solve the basic problem of society and serve something valuable.
2. What is functional area of business
Generally,functional area are work as a team of different employees, who have similar
skills and knowledge. Just as human body perform different function by different organs,
different function of the organisation are performed and controlled by the different parts of
organisation (Burns and Dewhurst, 2016).
3. What are the key functional area of the business
There are mainly six functional area of business that involve different strategies,
marketing, finance, human resource, technology and equipment and different operations. One of
the main reason for distributing different organisational operations into functional department are
for allowing expertise efficiency and effectiveness across the whole business organisation (Hoerl
and Snee, 2020). All of the functional area are mainly related to each other and make sure about
success of company in order to make different organisational approaches within market.

Marketing: Marketing department major is to promote the business and mission of the
company. In this IOM electronic, duties of marketing department is to define and mange

another responsibility is to monitor and management social media handle. This
department is necessary for the company because this will helps the business in attracting
customers towards their products and services.
Human Resource Management: Human resources department major responsibility is to
recruit new talents for the business and manage them accordingly. The duties of human
resource management is to work and manage different aims and objective for the growth
of organisation (Jiang and Chen, 2018). The HRM team main aim is to make different
organisational practices, experienced staff and figure out the rates of employees turnover
and make people organisational behaviour.
Customer Services: All type of business organisation are related to customer and clients,
who have make completed enquiries, concern and complaints. In the new generation,
customer are expecting very high, as it will related to high promotion, polite behaviour
and knowledge which are related to different customer services. As there are two main
sites within UK which are related to different situational organisation. For example in
IOE electronic Ltd, they are working on different electronic items for consulting for
different organisation. All of these are related to different customer queries and
complaints to resolve the problems and make effective areas.
Finance: This is the function area of the organisation which are related to planning,
obtaining and maintain for company's fund. Finance manager of the company are able to
work in short and long term financial capital that are needed to complete the impact of
borrowing on the financial position of business (Lambert and Enz, 2017). This is the
approach which is basically related to the cash flow, and make difficult situation within
an organisation and correct the planning and structure of budget. In the chosen
organisation, the finance team will help the company to make appropriate budget and
make sure about their performance and realistic approaches.
Research and Development: The main concern of the research and development for the
improvement to make existing products and make a design as well. This department of
the organisation are generally related to innovation and improvement for make a
development and reasonable products through different sales and cost related products

marketing (Nawaz and Koç, 2019). The employee for the marketing department will
include interpersonal skills, good oral and written skills, creativity and imagination, team
work, organisational concept. All of the skills are mainly needed by the team members of
work which effective help them to manage functional areas.
Human resource management employees: This is the organisation which are related to
management of human resource management employee, as their main task is to provide
better work culture within organisation. This is one of the important communication task,
hat help the employees to work and possess the skills to other employees (Wei and et.al.,
2019). They have flexibility approach, patience, Negotiation and make ethical actions.
All of these skills are related to approaches which affect the growth of organisational
employees and HRM team members to make effective work related experience.
Customer services employees: Working in customer service functional department,
related to perfect speaking skill. As it is the main and foremost skills which are required
and needed by the employees for working and make responsible for making empathy and
adaptability within organisation. Further they have ability to make self control on their

approaches and growth in this sector.
Research and development: For working in an organisational context, are mainly

finance and research. Further it is concluded that internal and external factors are make an impact
