Introduction
The aim of report is to assess the functions of business performed by different business
department. At the same time, it also displays the link of every business function for
achieving common objectives of organisation. Discussion of business function has been
supported by taking the example of Amazon.
Business functions and their relative importance
The major business functions are human resource, marketing, finance, production, and
information system. All these functions interact with each other in varied ways. At the same
time, they also help in bringing the effectiveness and efficiency at organisation. The major
functional area is marketing which provides the necessary information to organisation that
allows the company to make decisions as per demand of customers. Human resource function
is important because it is responsible for attracting the potential candidates, as well as
management of the employee relation and better working conditions. The finance function is
important, as this department is responsible for calculating the salaries, identification of
problems and recoding of the ash inflows. The role of production department is to
manufacture the goods. It tends to convert the raw material, assemble the components into the
final goods, and further package those products (Martensen & Mouritsen, 2017).
Every business function is interlinked with each other. For example: marketing department is
required to work closely with every department. It work closely with the production
department for ensuring that proper research and development is done. Marketing department
also works closely with the finance department in order to ensure that proper budget is made
for meeting the needs for promotion, research, and distribution (Albertoni, Elia & Piscitello,
2017). It also required working with the human resource department in order to ensure that
proper skills are in place. In addition to this, it can also be said that if any good is being
produced, it is also required to do marketing and selling of those products. For selling and
marketing those products, human resource will be required. In this way, every business
function is linked with each other (Brewster, 2017).
Amazon is the best example that effectively works through the combination of different
business functions. Amazon not only succeeds because of its marketing expertise from
