INTRODUCTION
There are several functions carried out in an organisation and these functions together
lead to achievement of organisational objectives. This report will discuss about different
functions, their role and importance of these functions working together. Asda, British
supermarket chain will be contextualised for discussion in this report.
MAIN BODY
Role of different organisational functions
Marketing- This function in Asda is responsible for carrying out promotional and marketing
activities of organisation. Marketing function plays vital role in serving as a face of company and
has very important role in coordination and production of material for promotional and
marketing activities of Asda (Richardson, 2018). Marketing please important role in identifying
and meeting requirements of customers and along with this survival growth and building
reputation of organisation is also role of marketing.
Finance- Finance department in Asda is responsible for management of input and output of case
in organization. Role of Finance department in Asda includes bookkeeping that involves
recording of day to day transactions, management of cash flow of company and budget
allocation and forecasting of expenses in organisation (Kimanzi and Gamede, 2020). Along with
this management of investment of Asda and its taxes it is also responsibility of finance
department.
Operations/Production- Operations department in Asda responsible for carrying out activities
through which good and services are developed and provided to customers. Role of operations
department include management of inventory and management of delivery of goods to customers
on time (Spring and Unterhitzenberger, 2020). Operations department in Asda also play role in
identifying and developing ways to reduce cost and improve quality of products.
Human Resources- Human Resource Department within Asda is responsible for resourcing
organization with right kind of and rightnumber of efficient employees and management of those
