Executive summary
There are different functions that is significant for successfully and effectively
performing business task in more significant manner. Each and every function of business is
important in order to attain desired goals of business. The major function of business are
marketing, finance, operational and human resource management. It is very important that all
functions of business are interrelated with each other in order to successfully or effectively
perform organisational task. This assist in increasing overall performance and productivity of
business.
INTRODUCTION
Business function is considered as function or operations which are perform by different
departments so that company can attain their desire goal and objective. Organization selected for
respective report is Asda supermarket. The main aim of conducting respective report is to
understand business function as well as its importance. Moreover it also include importance of
all functions working together.

Business function and importance
Marketing function – Marketing function is considered as department which perform
activities related to promotion and advertisement of products and services which are
offered by a company (Sabuhari and Irawanto, 2020). The main role of this department is
to attract more and more customers towards the product or services as well as encourage
them to buy it. In respect of Asda their marketing department conduct work for
promoting their business successfully for enhancing sales.
Finance function – This refer as the department of organisation that is engage with
acquiring funds, managing its properly as well as developing plan to correctly use
different funds in significant manner. The role of respective department is to provide
financial support to other department as well as they also do management of different
financial accounts. In respect of Asda their financial function conduct accounting,
management of different accounts so that management known about their profit and
assets. Moreover they perform role related to providing funds to different department
according to requirement.

Operations/ production function – The function of operation or production department is
to ensure that all the operational activities are conducted properly in order to attain the
desire goal and objective. In respect of Asda their operations/ production department
conduct work so that their customer get quality products and services as well as on time
and effectively.
Human resource function – This department is related to managing employees and other
resources of business in significant manner. Human resources function includes
recruitment and selection, training and developing, employee engagement and so on. The
function of human resource department is to hire most effective candidate at the
workplace who perform allotted work properly for attaining desire goal (Geldenhuys,
2020). In respect of respective company their human resource department hire candidates
who conduct work in effective manner for ensuring that company attain desire goal
successfully. They also motivate and encourage employees.
Importance of all functions working together
In a company all departments like marketing, operation/ production, finance and human
resource work together for attaining the company desire goal. These departments generally help
each other in conducting work in effective manner as well as they also ensure that all the work or
