INTRODUCTION
Business functions are set of activities which organisation administrative department
need to perform to achieve its business goals. The main purpose of every functional unit is to
ensure that every business operations are carried out effectively and efficiently. This is because
specific functional unit is responsible for supporting particular objective of the firm, for instance
sales and marketing department are accountable to achieve target goals to generate business lead.
Following report throw light on the importance of business function in context of Cranswick plc
which is leading food producer and supplier of premium food in UK (Sangwa and Sangwan,
2018). Following article also cover different functional units of Cranswick to highlight
operability of different administrative department.
MAINBODY
Importance of business functions in context of Cranswick Plc.
Functions are carried out business activities that business need to perform to achieve
profitability by serving target market group. Different functional unit of Cranswick Plc are
accountable to achieve specific business purpose. Business functions helps Cranswick to
improves its product quality through integration of different business function. Much more
different business functions support Cranswick to prevent chaos from creeping into regular
business operations. Integration of different business functions help company to improve
organisational efficiency. Different organisational functions such as marketing, finance,
operations/production and Human resource are liable to achieve set business goals so that
Cranswich can move on to its long term business objectives.
Role of different functional unit in context of Cranswick Plc.
Human resource department- People working at Cranswick are being considered as the
vital and significant resource, in that sense foremost role of HR department to utilise human
resource and manage their performance and motivative them by giving rewards and incentive
(Krishnamoorthi and Mathew, 2018). Generally HR role and functions are expressed as the
process begins with attracting and acquiring candidate (recruitment and selection), providing
training, do payroll activities and retain them for longer course duration and reduce attrition rate
so that organisation can ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.

Marketing department- The success factor in context of Cranswick is its successful and
appealing marketing campaign, primary role of marketing department is to do marketing
planning for attracting and acquiring target group and maintain relation with the external
stakeholder. Therefore in order to perform this job, marketing manger or executive should made
judicious decision regarding 4Ps of marketing so that set target of business can be achieve
through greater business leads and customer conversion.
Finance department- Financial department of Cranswich are mainly responsible to
perform three primary function which are relates to the investment decision ( financial planning
and preparing budget), financial decisions ( demonstrating capital requirement to perform routine
operations wither fixed or variable) and dividend decision. Moreover, financial functional units
are also responsible to integrate with all other department to ensure other department has plenty
of funds to perform business manoeuvrer. Financial personnel should be good in depth strategic
planning and has analytical mindset to solve various numerical issues.
production department- Cranswich is leading producer and supplier of Pig meat in UK,
so it is duty of production unit to ensure production activities are in organised manner.
Production department are accountable for manufacturing of goods, needed quality and quantity
to meet market demand ans supply (Macchi, Savino and Roda, 2020). Production department has
to formulate product planning, product engineering, and product layout decision.
CONCLUSION
According to the carried out study, it has been concluded that for smooth organisational
operations a business need integrity of different department who are working to achieve specific
business goals and aim in a certain time period. Business functions are necessary for every
organisation whether small or large and public or private this is because without integrity of
different business functions it would be tough call for a organisation to ensure effectiveness and
efficiency.
