INTRODUCTION
Business Functions are the various departments which exist within a business
organization (Brannen, Piekkari and Tietze, 2017). They are important and should be considered
by these organizations so that they are able to attain their goals and objectives effectively and
efficiently. For this essay, NHS has been chosen. It is a healthcare system which is publicly-
funded. In this essay, the importance of business functions will be discussed.
MAIN BODY
There can be different types of business functions which can be present within an
organization (Cagle, Yılmaz and Doğru, 2020). These functions are explained as follows-
Marketing- Marketing is the process through which the potential customers/clients can be
attracted towards products or services (An Explanation of Marketing in Business, 2019). This
function of the organizations has a task of ensuring that the goods and services of the
organization can reach the customers effectively. Thus in this way it makes sure that the
company is able to earn higher-level of profits. In the context of NHS, this function becomes
important so that it is able to popularize its healthcare services which it provides to various
people.
Importance- For the organizations there is an importance of this function because by
using it they are able to reach their customers and clients (Elia, Massini and Narula, 2019). NHS
has to ensure that the marketing of its services is done in the right manner because in this way
people will get more awareness about the healthcare facilities.
Finance- In the companies, this function ensures that the financial requirements are
effectively met (Yeoh and Popovič, 2016). Therefore, in the context of NHS it makes sure that
the company is able to manage its financial requirements in a highly effective manner.
Importance- This function is important for the firms because it is required to manage the
position of funds effectively and efficiently. For NHS it is important because proper fund
management has to be done by it to ensure that it manages its work in the right manner.
Production- This function has a task in the businesses to make sure that the goods are
produced according to the set standards (Zhang, Zhao and Xu, 2016). Also it has to ensure that
the quality of goods is higher and is able to satisfy the customers. In NHS, this function is quite

crucial because it can ensure that the right healthcare products are provided to the people which
will enable them to get good healthcare facilities.
Importance- This function is quite crucial for the organizations because by using it they
are able to ensure that the goods which they are producing are of high-quality and thus can
satisfy the customers. For NHS it is important because it will be able to ensure that it produces
high-quality healthcare products which are beneficial for the people.
HR- Human resource is an organizational function dealing with the procurement and
retention of talented employees (What is Human Resources?, 2020). This function has the task of
ensuring that the employees are managed effectively and efficiently. Therefore, NHS has to
make sure that its workers are managed in the right manner which will facilitate the achievement
of their goals and objectives.
Importance- For the organizations, this function is important because they will be able to
manage their employees in the right manner through proper HR management. For NHS, it is
important that they are able to manage their workers through the display of proper HR policies.
CONCLUSION
From the above essay, it can be concluded that the business functions are important for
any organization. The firms are therefore required to make sure that they are able to manage
these functions in a highly effective manner.
