INTRODUCTION
Business functions are mainly the organisation's activities that are carried out to earn
profit. The finances, human resource, etc. are the few main functions of a business organisation
(Wagner, 2020). The company chosen for this report is Sainsbury which is a chain or
supermarket. This report will determine the roles and importance of the functions of business of
Sainsbury and also the interrelation of them with each other.
MAIN BODY
Roles and importance of functions of business
There are many business functions of Sainsbury carried out by it to grow and succeed.
They are as follows:
Marketing mainly refers to promote or to introduce any product to the existing or
potential customers (Kumar, Sujit and Abdul, 2019). It is the role of the marketing department of
Sainsbury to make plans relating to the product advertisement. The department also analyse the
way their competitors are introducing their products. The main importance of marketing is that
with the help of marketing mix and others, the company make various marketing strategies to
attract customers.
Finance is funds management and allocation (Abd Karim, Nawawi and Salin, 2018). The
main role of the finance department of Sainsbury is to provide managers of various units with
support so that finances can be sustainably used. It also determines and analyse business
operations and accordingly prepare reviews of the finances. This department is of much
importance as it is solely responsible for the management of the funds and allocation of it to
various units.
Human Resources deals with the employees and workforce of a company (Sarvaiya,
Eweje and Arrowsmith, 2018). The role of HR department at Sainsbury is that it recruit
employees for various units according to their skills. This department in a procedural way select
employees that will be useful in the operations of business. This department is very important as
it hire employees that helps company to grow and succeed.
Operations Department of the Sainsbury have roles to perform which includes: training
staff, administration, cleanliness, etc. this departments looks after the needs and demands of the
customer so that the company can serve them best. This department is important as it helps in
