achieve there objectives. With this, it also explains the importance of business functions as to
why these business functions are important. Furthermore, it will also cover the inter-relations of
these business functions with one another.

INTRODUCTION
Business functions are the activities and operations which are conducted by the business
to achieve their company objectives. The operations which are done by every business function
are inter-related with one another. Sainsbury is the largest supermarket chain which was founded
in 1869 and having its headquarter in London, UK(Donovan, Blare and Peña, 2020). This report
will cover different business functions and its importance with its interrelation.
MAIN BODY
Different business functions
Marketing- Marketing function of business is very crucial because they work to promote
the brand and there products which are being developed by the company. For the success
of Sainsbury this department conducts a lot of research. This department is important
because of them only consumer are getting aware of the company and the products which
they are selling as this directly impacts the sales of a company(Jambunathan and
Yoganathan, 2018).
Finance- Finance function is responsible for maintaining the expenses and to allocate the
budgets within which the work has to be done. Without funds it would be difficult for the
business to carry on their operations so with this only there is a requirement of a
department who will be managing all these funds. Finance department of Sainsbury keeps
all the things under control so that they do not have to face the problem of deficient
funds.
Production- Production function works in context with producing the products and they
also check the availability of raw material. Sainsbury production department checks the
stock as which needs to be filled and which does not requires more production.
Human resource- The working of human resource department is related with recruiting
the staff, to fill the vacant position and to provide the training to employees. Sainsbury
have skilled workforce because of the training provided by this department and they also
make the recruitment of that individual who are capable.

Inter-relations between different business functions
Finance department have to make the allocation of funds to different departments which
covers the marketing, human resource and production. While the marketing department of a
company have to make the evaluation of target customer group and also the needs. The reason
for this is that because of this only they make there new strategies and also provide the
information to production department as to how and what they have to produce. Each department
of a company have to inform the human resource department about the vacant position and the
skills which they require to successfully achieve their objectives(Solntseva, 2019). This is the
way by which Sainsbury business functions are interrelated with one another.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that business functions that these functions
plays an important role for the achievement of objectives of a company. These business
functions are developed because of making the organisation and management of things in a
proper way.
