The world of work is developed in order to achieve the common goal of organisation.
There are several activities which includes occupation, job, workforce, employer, promotions,
ways to encourage and many more. It is important for every organisation to determined effective
workforce so that they can easily achieve their objective (Lee, 2019). This helps them to
influence the power of work so that they can survive for a longer period of time. This assignment
is discussed about the various functional areas of business and the types of skills which are
acquired by the workforce so that they can effectively work with respect to their functional areas.

What is business organisation
Business is an organisation in which the entrepreneurs are engaged in order to develop
their innovative ideas into reality so that they can earn revenue from it. There are several
activities which includes the production of goods and services, designing and packaging,
providing it to their targeted customers (Li and et. al., 2018). The entrepreneurs are engaged into
an organised activities which helps them to on profitability while providing there goods and
services to the targeted audience.
What are the functional areas of business
The functional areas of an business organisation is also called as operational
management. It is the type of interdisciplinary approach which can be adopted by the
organisation in order to manage their operations so that the company can achieve their goals into
an effective manner.
What are the key functional areas of business
Key functional areas
Human Resource Management: it is the important functional area of every organisation
as it is concerned with opening and managing the satisfactory and satisfied employees
within the organisation. The main objective of this type of department it is to manage the
human resource within the organization (Liu, Murayama and Ichinose, 2021).
Department is responsible for the recruitment placement induction orientation training
and promotional techniques and other things which helps the employees to fail included

to create and promote the team spirit within the workforce.
Research and development Management: production managers includes several activities
such as planning, organising, giving directions to the people coordinating and controlling
all the functions in such a manner so that the company can developed their desired goods
and services into a specified period of time. The department is responsible to get an
appropriate raw material purchase and inventory management so that the company can
produce and satisfy the requirements of the targeted audience
Sales Management: it can be defined as the organisation of an office so that they can
achieve their specified purpose and to make the use of their personnel by adopting an
appropriate machines and equipments which helps the organisation to adopt a best
possible methods of work within the organization (Moon, Choi and Armstrong, 2018).
This includes several activities such as office accommodations, layouts and environment,
communication and many others.
Customer service: It is the departments which play the important role within the
organisation as it help the customers in order to resolve the issues faced by them within
the organisation. It is the most important department with is directly connected with the
customers as it is the one who used to solve the issues faced by their targeted audience in
order to obtain their products and services from the competitive market. The department
also used to to develop positive brand image and to the competitive market while
resolving the issues faced by their clients. The department also used to take feedback
from their customers so that they can in over their products in order to satisfy their goods
into the competitive market.
Research and development department: the department is engaged in such activities from
innovate and introduce a new product and services into the competitive market. It is often
the first state in development process as it works according to the ultimate goals of the
organisation and add to the company bottom line. It is the department which is
responsible to research about the raw material which can be e used by the company in
order to develop their goods and services into the competitive market. The department
used to research and develop their products in such a manner so that they can earn more
profitability from the competitive market.

management workforce are required to determine the effective techniques in order to
analyse the requirements of their employees so that they can together develop a good and
healthy working environment within the organisation. The employees must have a skill of
friendly nature so that the other employees can easily communicate with them with
respect to their issues and problems faced in the working environment. This helps them to
interact in an better manner so that the employees of human resource management can
resolve the issues faced by other employees (Yusoff and et. al., 2019). The employees
must adopt such techniques which can be used by them in order to motivate the other
employees so that the company can develop their efficiency off work.
Skills required by finance employees: all those employees who belongs to a financial
department of a company must have a skin of determining various sources of funds which
can be e used by the organisation in order to locate the funds so that the company can
smooth their functioning. The employees must have a strong analysis with respect to
determining several aspects in which the company can expand their funds in order to get
an competitive advantages (Yang, Dou and Li, 2020). The managers must have good
knowledge of demonstrating the logical thinking so that they can effectively look about
the options which are present and analyse them into an effective manner.
Skills required by the customer service employees: is highly required by every
organisation that they must have a customer service desk so that they can easily resolve
the issues faced by their targeted audience into the competitive market in order to avail
there offered products and services. The department also takes necessary steps in order to
take feedback from their customers so that they can innovate and developed their

customer service desk must be have a strong patience and good understanding knowledge
with respect to the offered products and services so that it will be easy for such
employees to resolve the issues faced by their customers. This helps the company to
develop positive brand image into the competitive Marketplace.
Skills needed by research and development employees: the research and development
department employees must have good skills with respect to analysing the competitive
market so that it will be easy for the organisation to develop and innovate their product
into the competitive market. The employees who belong to the said department must have
a skill to resolve the issues so that they can find the best product and services which can
be offered by the organisation in order to enhance their market share (Scholvin, Breul and
Diez, 2019). The employees must have advancement in technology and automation so
that they can them self work in more effective manner. The technology helps them to
reach and a study to their targeted customers and Marketplace.
Skills needed by sales employees: The employees who belong to the sales department
must have good communication skills so that it will be easy for them to attract the
targeted audience towards their offered products and services. This helps the company to
increase their sales. The employees must have a skill of good communication skills so
that they can easily exchange their ideas with their targeted audience with resulted in
enhancement of sales and also increase of market shares (Shams and et. al., 2018). The
good communication skills helps the sales manages to work with many departments and
the ability to alter their communication style to easily convey information into a vital skill
for becoming a successful manager.
